I'm not sure I buy HIMARs for a couple of field grade officers. HIMARs is going to be the boogey man for the next couple of months to explain anything dying / blowing up that is embarrassing whether responsible or not.

A little disappointed in the loitering accuracy.

Lots of different types of rockets still being used but you are right, the HIMARs is going to get the glory and the assumed kills and honestly, may not be that bad.

And that Switchblade was dead on. Not sure what you mean by the accuracy?

they need to be using HIMARS for higher value targets like ammo supply dumps, army barracks, train engines/ rail resupply lines, bridges, fuel supply tanks / depots etc. I believe taking out pilots is important if its with a command-and-control center. any way just my 2 cents!

The 300 has a antipersonnel warhead that airbursts a few feet short of actual target to get optimum shrapnel spread. The 300s are not used to destroy vehicles directly but to kill and injure those in or around them. Blue shirt man was in the box the entire time.

From what I can tell, it was dead on to do the most damage. These things have relatively tiny warheads to what we are used to.

Yeah that acted exactly how it was supposed to. Those are fragmentation warheads. Took out the two guys behind the car, which is what they were going for. Pretty sure white shirt guy is ****ed based on how he was moving.

Agree. Speaking of high value targets ... unconfirmed rumors they hit the Kherson bridge again a few hrs ago.

He's going to go in for "routine surgery" and "tragically die during the operation" sometime soon if the history of Russian leaders is any guide. His opponents have to be sensing weakness...

I have only seen footage of switchblades hits 3x and two of them I felt were short as well. This didn't look to me to be airburst unless the majority of the blast had a very small disbursement cone and was less than 5' up. I am on the lil screen now so difficult to tell w my ole eyes. I did think the one that looks kia may have been a woman and now realizing that a second drone filmed this likely means these were HVTs and the vehicle was followed. This was not a random targeting but a kill mission that appears successful offset or not.

On the pilot's I think the article mentioned they were part of a CP or convoy hit and not necessarily specifically targeted but glad they're dead even if HIMARS trolled.

It was definitely an air burst, looked about 4ft off the ground.

The HIMARS confirmation was from one of the pilot's fathers. Not exactly someone who would be in a position to know. Could have even been an NLAW fired from a couple kilometers away by the Ukrainian insurgency. It could have been literally anything.

NLAW has an effective range of about 800m. If targeted from distance it was likely artillery or drone. Javelins can hit a target at 2.5km max. Anything is possible I suppose.

It has a small disbursement cone that explodes in its direction of travel. It's like a big shotgun blast to limit collateral damage. What you saw is exactly how their supposed to operate.

Switchblade has a common controller with other platforms, so they can scout out targets for it to be deployed against using the same controller. Kind of neat.

Russia has massed its forces to conduct the close fight. This could be a double edged sword. If the Russians face significant attrition that weakens their ability to fight effectively intersects with Ukraine's capability to maneuver a significant sized force, the Russians are at risk of being flanked. However the planets must align first.

Even in the close fight, they're dumb and clumsy. We'd see footage from Mariupol with them getting domed crossing the street, with no covering each other or anything. Their strength is disposable numbers.

I've been wondering about this RR bridge. We're unlikely to get photos so damage unknown.

I think these villages have been 'liberated' maybe 2-3 times. Ukraine has made almost zero progress in this area since their first Inhulets River bridgehead at nearby Davydiv Brid exactly 2 months ago. Underwhelming success here IMO.

I've read about possibly training Ukrainian pilots on Western/NATO fighter jets but obviously that will take a while. I wonder why we would not train them on some of our attack helicopters and get some in their hands. Seems they would be extremely beneficial for any counteroffensive strikes as their helicopters seem dated to me?

Jets can help secure air superiority and neutralize things like sea landings / heavy bomber attacks. Helicopters are slow, limited in range, and are easy to shoot down. And honestly my guess is a Long Bow is probably harder to train on than a F16.

Combining jets, high end drones, and kamikaze drones in a combined attack you could put a big hurt on Russia.
