Kherson region, which has come under the control of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, will regain the coat of arms of the times of the Russian Empire, Deputy Chairman of the Military and Civil Administration of the Kherson Region Kirill Stremousov told RIA Novosti.

During a special operation to demilitarize Ukraine, the Russian military took control of the entire Kherson region in the south of the country and the Azov part of the Zaporozhye region. Military and civil administrations have been formed in the regions, broadcasting of Russian TV channels and radio has begun, and trade ties with Crimea are being restored.

Began a military operation in Ukraine on February 24. President Vladimir Putin called it the goal of "protecting people who have been bullied and genocide by the Kiev regime for eight years." To do this, according to him, it is planned to carry out "demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine", to bring to justice all war criminals responsible for "bloody crimes against civilians" of Donbass.

According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the Armed Forces strike only on military infrastructure and Ukrainian troops and, as of March 25, fulfilled the main tasks of the first stage - significantly reduced the combat potential of Ukraine. The main goal in the Russian military department was the liberation of Donbass.

The biggest thing early was the Ukes demonstrating that they were not the comic opera version of their military from 2014. There were a couple of good colonels and such then but their military infrastructure was awful. They completely remade their military in 8 years which is really, REALLY impressive. Especially since there was active combat in the east that entire time.

The first day looked pretty dicey. The repeated failure of the Russians to succeed in any of their airborne assaults was an early red flag. Their bogging down by the weekend made it clear this wasn't 2014. I don't know what gear the Russians will throw at the Ukraine if they mobilize a half million or more men. I'm just not sure it hasn't all been sold off in the black market or is so degraded from poor maintenance that they won't be able to get it into the field. The Russians have solved a good bit of their immediate supply chain issues by limiting the areas and axis of attack but again, quadrupling the size of your men under arms doesn't mean you can feed, arm, resupply all those guys. This is 1943 where you can send one guy in with a rifle and one with bullets. There would be large scale mutinies if they tried that. But a huge mass of untrained guys or ex service guys who got questionable training while in into an active combat zone in a modern war just strikes me as a recipe for a massacre.

Ukraine has shown to be far from stupid. They're not going to sacrifice valuable pilots and machinery if they're going to be fish in a barrel.

Not a dig at the Ukrainians, more along the lines that I could see us giving them something they can't really use effectively just to say we did.

People see the A-10 as a panacea for all armor problems. It seems to be a great air frame in uncontested airspace. I believe that if you are going to give the Ukes aircraft it should be Migs and Su-25's that they are familiar with. There has to be a source of Su-25's out there someplace that can be back filled with Western air frames. Better yet pour on the artillery and anti armor missiles.

Oh, I didn't think that you were calling them stupid at all. Just saying that I don't think they'd use them outside of effective situations. They've shown to be creative so I'm sure they could find ways to employ them effectively. But, you're right. They're only impactful under the right circumstances.

Also, the A-10 is probably a maintenance nightmare at this point in its life. Who is experienced enough on the Uke side to put in the 5-6 hrs of maintenance for every hour of flight time. Spare parts, weapons, etc. Much better to give them more of what they already have experience with.
