Belogrod is just 20 miles from the border. What happens if they reach the border and don't stop?

Just a guess but I think Ukraine with fortify their border in an attempt to block any future attacks from Russia

No surprise. Just posting, as it continues to progress in this direction at breakneck speed. Russia steals everything.

I am curious if they are annexing first so that they can claim when UKR comes with the counteroffensive for those parts that they can claim its an attack on the "motherland". This would make the general mobilization more palatable to the grunts possibly.

They install cooperative proxies and bully, torture, kill anyone who opposes occupation, then use it as a propaganda piece so that "the people" say that they want Russia there and any attempt to re-take the city is "against the will of the people". Then they claim that the attempt by Ukraine to eject Russian forces from the area is Ukrainian crimes against "ethnic Russians", "brotherly peoples", etc. Same playbook as they've used for over 100 years and most recently in Donbas and Crimea.

The entire thing was bullisht before (in 2014) but people bought into it because most folks weren't paying attention as it happened. Now you're watching it in real time and can see how ridiculous and illegitimate it is. This is exactly what happened before and set the stage for what we're in the middle of.

They don't have the resources for that and there's no benefit. They need all they have to continue and drive forces out of Ukraine. Shore up the border and strike strategic targets within Russia from distance or via SOF/sabotage if necessary.

Once the Ukes win there is going to be an ugly purge of all of the pro-Russians and the Russian proxy stooges in the currently occupied territories. Despite being a comedian Zelensky has shown no hesitation to punish traitors.

Like France after it was liberated from the Germans. Female collaborators had their heads shaved.

Yeah, I think that's fake news. OTOH, if the Ukes were able to pull that off? Be a big deal.

Ukraine looks to be rebuilding their navy.

From what I'm seeing, we may need to be ready to see Severodonetsk in intense fighting and potentially surrounded soon. Russia's on the move in that area. I hope the Ukes can hold fast.

Russia may be moving but they're not establishing robust lines of advance or heavily occupying the areas they advance through. Their areas of "control" are weak. I don't believe they'll hold once heavily contested at points of weakness. We'll see.

Probably. Still, my dark side says do it just to change all the Belograd street signs to Ukrainian before leaving.

I'd rather see them just send a few people across the border at night and start loosening track plates on every corner of the rail lines leading into Ukraine. Just let the Russians start stacking railcars full of supplies on every corner between Belgorod and Severodonetsk

They can just park a battery 15-20 klicks back and build a new sign at the border that reads:

WELCOME TO UKRAINE A SOVERIGN COUNTRY. IF YOU WISH TO DO HARM, PLEASE PUT THESE SUNFLOWER SEEDS IN YOUR POCKET. THIS AREA HAS BEEN PRECOORDINATED AS TRP AA3412 AND THE FO IN THE SKY SAYS CYKA!

And they should be forced conscripts to clean up all the destroyed villages. Men and women at gun point.

Plus a demand for all stolen Ukes to be returned.

That would be problematical unless the Russians kept good records of who they deported and to where.

I doubt that they did.

Correct. They didn't. But you cinscript the **** out of Russians. It wasn't until the 80's that Germany rebuilt.

If one can dream, then Putin's seized $700M yacht gets loaded with high explosives to become the floating bomb that destroys the Kerch Strait bridge…on May 9th during the parade. Or better yet, floated into Sevastopol harbor and detonated between a few high value naval assets.

Tweet: US has provided ~$3.8B in military aid to Ukrain since Russian full-scale invasion
By comparison, a new carrier costs $13.5B and a Virginia sub is $3.5B. Add in the associated benefits of adding Sweden/Finland and forecasted NATO defense spending -. arming Ukraine might be the best ROI American taxpayers have received since electricity was invented.
