Yes, probably good analyses, but it all depends if they do emplace/really deploy and use their massive quantity of field artillery on Kiev, imho. Their doctrine calls for encircling, then pounding the area, not going right into it urban-warfare style, until it looks like the surface of the moon.

Quote:

The Pentagon has said that 50% of Russian combat power was committed in Ukraine. At the height of our wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, we were about 29% committed. And it was difficult to sustain that.

This plays directly into the discussion of the encirclement of Kyiv. Russia does not have the manpower or firepower to encircle the Ukrainian capital, let alone capture it. I have been to Kyiv several times. I was there in Kyiv five weeks ago, met President Zelenskyy. It is a very large, dense major urban center on the banks of one of Europe's largest rivers. It is a difficult, complex urban terrain.

The Ukrainians are going to be able to keep it open and prevent encirclement, especially if we can get the flow of weapons and ammunition up to the levels needed. There will be, unfortunately, be increasing attacks on the city by air and ground systems, and many more innocent Ukrainian citizens will be murdered, injured, or displaced. But I don't believe it will fall.

Russia's dilemma is only worsened by its combat casualties. Although I am always skeptical about enemy body counts, I do believe the numbers of dead are in the thousands (possibly in the 5,000-6,000 range suggested by US sources) and the numbers of wounded much higher. The modern battlefield is extremely lethal, especially for poorly trained or disciplined soldiers. These are very high numbers for just the first two weeks of war and many come from Russia's elite units they are hard to replace (and the Kremlin won't be able to conceal these losses from the Russian public and all those for long.)

Reports of low morale, dissension between commanders, mutiny on at least one vessel, desertion, and so on, all within the first two weeks are indicators of major manpower problems. And in pure numbers, the Ukrainian armed forces still outnumber or closely match Russian forces actually on the ground in Ukraine.

There is no suggestion that the Russians have big units lurking in the woods somewhere (and the Pentagon has said it sees no signs of significant reinforcements.) So it's apparent that the notional 900,000 strength of the Russian military is a hollow number. Their public call for 16,000 troops from Syria and elsewhere indicates this. Employment of "stop loss" by Russia on conscripts whose time is about up is another indicator. The Ukrainian diaspora is flocking home to help the fight; Russians are not coming back home and indeed, many are leaving to avoid Putin's fight.

Why would you keep helicopters at a location where the enemy has already proven they can and will hit? Wonder if we'll see them abandon the location now.

In 20 days Russians have a verified 209 abandoned vehicles and 535 have been captured.

That is INCREDIBLY bad discipline.

Again, this is not "propaganda" or ban worthy. Russia is in big trouble. They might be able to shell innocent people in the city instead of attacking the Ukraine military, but they aren't going to "win" this war. They are in big trouble.

British mercenary says the Ukraine army is sending volunteers to Kyiv with 10 bullets each. Also, interesting tale of how the ukraines are tearing up passports at the border if you appear young and healthy enough to fight. From pro- Russia intel Slav telegram channel.

https://t.me/intelslava/22446

Description of the video on telegram:
" A British mercenary who joined the Georgian Territorial Defense Legion complains about the huge losses among the British and Americans as a result of the strike on their base, as well as the attitude of the Ukrainians towards them: they wanted to be sent to Kyiv with only 10 rounds of ammunition for machine guns . As a result, he and his comrades returned to Poland, although not without problems at the border."

The number of captured tanks, IFV/AFV/APC amd especially air defense assets blows my mind.

If it's long-standing pro-Russian then that's dead on propaganda to discourage foreign fighters. Based on the amount of small arms and ammo that NATO countries have been providing I'm calling bill isht. Zelensky would be pleading for ammo publicly instead of just big ticket items if that was the case. Doesn't fit with what we're observing with Uke infantry gains.

I can only submit the following not any priority over the other:

  • lack of decentralized leadership with no NCO core.
  • lack of REALISTIC COMBAT training. (this is the way they always park them back home).
  • Lack of situational awareness. See above.
  • Stresses within the leadership due to lack of sleep, logistics issues, comms issues, while being in a combat zone, separated from home, while being the bad guy on social media.

The scene continues to repeat itself in the armor columns and the supply convoys as well.

Parking Helos is slightly different because the crews have structure to fall back in for down time, but on the vehicle columns I wonder how much Human Nature has been in play, where the desire to be close together while scared without a proper Operations Order has created a huge false sense of security the Ukes keep taking advantage of. Some of the vehicle pics have been parked so close together they could have been sharing cigarettes through the windows & hatches.

Also to note these may have been mortars or the Turkish drone fitted with 2-3 munitions at at time versus the one heavy for Armor. No armor on russian helos.

There's no way the Russians attempt an amphibious landing on Odessa with no land offensive, right?

Can't be an artillery strike. There's not much damage to the tarmac, maybe TB2!

They've done plenty of other dumb crap. Of course they will, because Odessa is a must have in order for Putin to secure a win. He's going to keep throwing good money after bad. He has no other option.

Most artillery won't do much to concrete like at an airport. 122mm grad rockets that hit our airfield in Afghanistan left damage to the concrete that would have been way too small to see from satellite

Typically I would say a drone strike around an advanced military's airfield probably wouldn't go well for the drone, but based on prior strikes there's no telling whether the Russians even bothered to turn the air defenses on.

The story isn't that [DeSantis] "couldn't win" the primary. The story is that an overwhelming majority of our population is heinously stupid. 50% of them vote for communists. 75% of the remaining 50% vote for Trump, who cant win. When the majority of the opposition party insists on voting for an opposition candidate who can't win, you get exactly the government you deserve. - Well Endowed Ag
