It's why I haven't scoffed too much at the Ukes estimates of Russian casualties. Seen a LOT of catastrophic kills. The Russians are not dying in ones and two but lots of fours, fives, sixes...

A Russian armored crew member in Ukraine right now is probably one of the most dangerous professions in the world.

Just carnage.
All these tanks seem to have the turret blown off .. this has to be the Javelin which is coming from the top?

I also doubt that Ukraine is kicking Russia's ass here.

This would have been over days ago if that was the goal.

Tanks blow up when hit badly. Russian tanks are known for blowing up in a way that kills the crew and blows the turret off. The crew doesn't die peacefully

This is a TOW, which is a heavier missile, but the result is the same. Hit the ammunition and/or fuel inside, and the tank goes pop and the crew is mist.

Well, one good thing. No evidence that the USAF has scrambled any of the WC-135 Constant Phoenix aircraft in the last few hours.

There is one based at RAF Mildenhall. It flew this morning (7:15AM GMT) to Poland, went in circles for a while, and went home.

If anyone wants to watch for it, their call sign is usually JAKE11 or JAKE21.

Unless I've missed it, the Jakes have been RC 135 not WC 135

Got it … like popping the lid off a pressure cooker.. makes sense

So whoever was in those tanks is pretty much charcoal briquettes

In the catastrophic kills, the crew is basically gone. That's a big reason the casualty counts will be way off. That and the outright lies

Saw earlier from a military advisor that they think the hit rate on javelins has been 280 out of 300 fired. That is a lot of dead vehicles.

There are worse ways to go than pink mist.

Granted there are better ways too.

Damn those are effective little suckers.

To put those losses into perspective, in armor and APCs alone that would be about 3 complete Armor Brigade Combat Teams (ABCTs), or 25% of the total active duty US Army ABCTs.

Pretty crippling losses in just two weeks.

I am sharing a controversial Tweet, which is making me think..... before you all jump on me as being some Pro-Putin stooge, know this --- I hope Putin is OVERTHROWN from within and this mess ends QUICKLY.

However..... I am starting to think that the Ukrainian government and aligned influencers are trying to gaslight and cause panic to draw NATO or EU countries in...... if they were deliberately lying about the seriousness of the nuclear situation, this is unacceptable.

In response to what your saying, I certainly get it, however, we have two different things going on here. The Ukraine is in dire straights, they were attacked and are being killed by an outside aggressor, they are doing what ever they can to survive individually and as a country. If it means using there media to get other country's to help them then I can understand where they are coming from. They NEED all the help they can get, I'll give them a pass for now, there story isn't too far off, the nuclear plant was obviously attacked and fires started, I believe Russia controls the site now per all the reports I have read.

Sorry not trying to thread derail

For those wondering. The Su-25, aka Frogfoot, is a dedicated ground attack plane. Comparable with our A10. Yes, the commies have their own version of BRRRRRRT. Not quite as capable as the A10 but damn capable enough. Older design for sure but also has a huge 30mm cannon and a large amount of ordnance points it can hang all the latest and greatest commie boom devices. I actually built a model of one when I was a young kid and researched it at that time. Weird what triggers some memories. Looking at a combat plane in pieces got me all nostalgic for those earlier years...

Anyways, if you are cheering on the Ukes, you should be glad to see this thing on the ground like this. It's not the sexiest kill around but it is an important one.

Question military guys,,, it says we sent F35s to the EU along with some other planes F15s, F16s, etc…. My question is would we send any F22 raptors ? Or is the F35 our premier fighter jet?
This is a difficult question for a lot of folks to accept but the F-35 really is a generation later. It doesn't use some of the stuff that was expensive/not real helpful after all on the F-22 like thrust vectoring, and also has more offensive capabilities, but more importantly much better situational awareness/data links for the pilots. there's a reason the USAF basically said 'we are done buying F-22's.'

Not to say the F-22's aren't exceptionally capable in A2A roles, and frankly are stealthier (if the RAM material is maintained) but you just can'T expect a 25 year old computer to be as capable as a new one, if the analogy kind of works (and these are basically flying computers).

Definitely the most dangerous plane to ground forces. Those things are beasts.

The other ground attack plane they have is the Su-34. Newer, lighter, and more nimble, but Russia has been struggling to develop guided ground munitions and targeting pods for it, despite what their military has said. Most of their bombing runs are having to fly low to use unguided munitions. This puts them within range of the man pads.

I don't think there's any doubt Ukraine is trying to get other countries involved. They're in a fight for their lives. They don't necessarily want WW3, but they also aren't the aggressor here.

I've heard it said more than once that the best death a tanker can ask for, is a quick one. That one goes back generations.

It's awful. If you go to some of the darker areas of the internet you can see a lot of the unfiltered videos and pictures. 99% of the stuff on this thread is scrubbed of bodies and body parts. A lot of Russians are dying in this war and violent deaths are not pretty deaths. Again, why I am not dismissing the casualty counts completely because it interferes what I think they should be in my own little world (like I've seen a couple on here). These soldiers are dying in double digit numbers in a lot of ambushes. Not even counting the wounded.

Lying to us to meet that end is not ok. If can't trust them, they any no more credible the Russians saying Ukraine troops sabatoged the plant themselves.

There's a ton of propaganda from both sides. This isn't new, it's just new as to the scale/dissemination rate, given the prevalence of social media today. Goebbels, Tokyo Rose and Jane Fonda weren't the first, either.

It's not that Ukraine is 'bad' for playing that part of the game of war, it's just that we need to always be suspicious of claims from either side as accurate.

Dehumanizing and demoralizing your enemy is a key tool/objective in war, documented since at least Roman times.

Russians set a building on fire inside the perimeter of a nuclear power plant. That's a fact.

The power plant people saying there was light damage to auxiliary systems affecting reactor one, but nothing indicates an unsafe situation. The control systems are working and the reactor itself is undamaged. The other reactors are fine. One reactor is still producing power.

Zelenskyy knows the west is sacrificing his country. Therefore, each day that passes is one day closer to death for him.

I think he is taking advantage of a stupid move by Russian forces and doing what he can to get help
