Part of it is you don't want a midair collision in busy airspace. Another is that if someone shoots at it, bad things are going to happen to them (in theory). It's likely not within range of anything anyway though. And it's not like the kind of people we're looking at don't already know it's there.

The sun is up, it is 0624 in Kyiv. The Ukrainians still hold Kyiv after having repelled an advance by Russian paratroopers from the west. They also continue to hold Kharkiv in the east of the country. All major objective areas remain in Ukrainian hands as Day 3 begins.

Thanks. Makes sense. I'm just surprised at a lot of things that get reported about our military activity. So much of it leaves me wondering "why would we make that public knowledge". I also wonder how many of those reports are just fakes thrown out there.

Correct. Hungary and Cyprus are the lone hold outs. Hungary has offered to be a peace mediator. If that is rejected then maybe they go too.

Looking for a way to help? Call their embassies here and in Canada or if you are world wide and encourage everyone you know to as well. Ask the Hungarian embassy how they would feel if Buda and Pest were separated in two different countries.

Yep. A Rivet Joint isn't exactly a stealthy platform. It's a combination of being a good citizen in commercial airspace plus propaganda to the rest of the world that we're watching. They can certainly cut the ADS-B any time they want and go Mode 5 IFF.

My thoughts too. Economically crippling sanctions and then make sure the people of Russia know it all goes away as soon as the current leadership is gone. Let them sort it out "in house".
