I have been doing research on all new purchases to avoid products made in China in favor of supporting American and our ally's manufacturing locations. Things can be very difficult to find, so I figured an ongoing thread to help each other share info on good products could be useful.

This one has been tricky- I'm looking for a battery station with about 720 Wh capacity.
https://www.rei.com/product/197019/ecoflow-river-pro-portable-power-station?sku=1970190001&store=18&cm_mmc=PLA_Google%7C21700000001700551_1970190001%7C92700064468227161%7CNB%7C71700000074091798&gclid=CjwKCAiA_omPBhBBEiwAcg7smRQO7MHnXHga3QozJoqjTk8SxbH_c44_DdHO9-qpzOjvKD557FxFnxoCSgoQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Hope this thread can help connect people to good products!

This is a great idea. The less people rely on China and reward them economically, the better.

Here's an 'anything but China' subreddit, but the USA specific ones aren't as active.

https://www.reddit.com/r/avoidchineseproducts?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

I love buying American made, so I would love to have a good resource, but sometimes it's not really practical to pay like 10-15x the normal price, like American child's bikes for $800, albeit they're handmade quality pieces of work.

and for many goods, just because it is made in America does not mean it is quality

We do our best to avoid China crap so most of our home is decorated by USA artists. Cottonwood Art Festival in Richardson is a great resource. Covid jacked it up but appears things are moving forward for the May show.

Damn, I was actually planning to start my own thread on this soon.

I am concerned with how powerful the Chinese influence is. It's insidious really. It truly seems like so many people and companies are selling out to them at every turn and I don't wear tinfoil hats (normally). That video of John Cena groveling to the CCCP flat out disgusted me on a physical level. He is just one of many though. Even one of my favorite notebook makers, Moleskine, fell to them very recently. We here on TA aren't going to move the needle but every cent I can keep away from mainland China, I feel like that is worth the expenditure of energy on my part. Plus, I'm getting older and see the value and desire to keep my cash as local as possible.

Thanks Lupe for doing this.

Good thread.

I wanted a 'ramen' style bowl so instead of going on Amazon (I did look) I found a potter in Arizona on Etsy who had what I want (KeiTsuiFire). It's possible that they get their clay from China. I don't know. But at least the crafting is done in America.

I wanted a good pocketknife. There are several actual high quality brands manufactured in China (Spyderco, Kizer, Bestech, CH Knives, etc) but I spent some extra money and got a Hinderer (Ohio). I could have spent even more and gone with Chris Reeve Knives (Idaho) but I wasn't ready to spend that much.

Those are the two most recent ones off the top of my head where I wanted to specifically get something made in America.

This is why Biden is going after Etsy sellers with the IRS. We can't have Americans making money by competing against Chinese Uyghurs slave labor.

I'm convinced that everything Amazon sells comes from those commie rats. I recently went shopping for one of those atomic clocks and looked at each seller. Yes, seller, which of course is different than manufacturer. That didn't occur to me when I bought one of these clocks from a US seller, only to find Made in China on the box when it arrived.

Nah breast implants are made mostly by Allergan (California) and Mentor (Johnson and Johnson in DFW). The US leads the way on manufacturing for generally useless items and we rely on China only for critical products.

Can somebody with more manufacturing and shipping savvy explain why we don't court India more for business? Is China's access to Pacific shipping that big of a deal compared to India's via the Indian Ocean? They certainly have the labor force.

On top of that, a more economically powerful India is a bigger pain in the ass to China and Pakistan.

This is a great thread and should be updated daily. I've been trying to buy more American made or at least not made in China things lately. I recently bought a Big Green Egg which is manufactured in Mexico rather than the Kamado Joe which is made in China and is about $400 cheaper.

American clothes are tough. Here are two companies that I've heard about, but haven't pulled the trigger on anything yet.

American Giant - Heard the CEO on the Glenn Beck podcast. He never stated his political beliefs and that's fine by me. He talked a lot about how they have been able to mitigate the supply chain issues because everything the use is made in America. Looks like their manufacturing plant is in El Paso too.

Origin Maine - Jocko's clothing company. Not too familiar with them other than what he's talked about on Rogan in the past. Plan to buy a pair of jeans soon to give them a try.

I love American Giant; I've got 3 of their hoodies in different weights.

Add tasc Performance to the list. tasc is family owned and based in New Orleans. The factory is located in India and provides great benefits to employees. Super comfortable ath-leisure style clothing with a unique bamboo-cotton fabric.

One of the things I've been eyeing is one of these smokeless fire pits.

Buddy has a Solo. He loves it. Problem: based right here in Texas but made in China.

So, I tried to find one that wasn't and found these: The Original Smokeless Fire Pit Breeo

They are made in Lancaster, PA.

Here is the problem I have with Solo. Their About Us is a lie. You can't believe in creating good and being a part of shared humanity when your products are Made in China:

About Us

Create good; We are driven by this mantra. Our fire pits, camp stoves, grill, and accessories are designed to help you get in touch with whatever is "good" for you. Whether it's a primal moment in awe of a flame, the moment right after you've taken a hot sip of coffee in the mountains, or your kid's face when they bite into a delicious s'more.

We believe we are part of a shared humanity, and we are grateful to have these moments right in front of us to connect with those we love, to remember something meaningful inside ourselves, to appreciate nature in its stunning beauty.

Good moments. Good memories. Good products. So you can create a good life.

Nokona baseball mits made in Nocona, TX.

7-8 years ago i toured their plant ... from the tanned leather to stitching and pocket break-in process.

Believe the company is now in a new, modern facility.

Full disclosure: I have a Nokona Bloodline P9 outfielders mitt. I had been a Rawlings fan for years... now Rawlings top line gloves are made in the Philippines. No way I was going to play ball using a glove not made in the U.S.

Another good one. I only wear New Balance now and I only wear their USA lines.

I do have to compromise with the fact that the shoes I have are a favorite of the elderly. Lol.
