So **** for brains President poopy pants makes this big statement about lowering insulin but forgets to mention that Trump had lowered it, they raised it and now he's trying to take credit for lowering it again.

This vile POS and his administration just needs to be punished and removed from office.

They are evil. Pure evil.

Currently a happy listless vessel and deplorable. #FDEMS TRUMP 2024.
Fight Fight Fight.

The 40 percent or whatever that approve of him today only get their news from his propagandists, so they will think this is great, and not know how he screwed diabetics over before going back to a Trump policy to help them.

Nice catch. That's exactly what happened!

Lying is all liberals know. I don't know how they interact with each other since there is no truth in them.

Cheaper insulin? So now type II diabetics can get fatter for less money! (For those unaware, insulin tells your body to store fat.)

And that's good!

My wife was type II, but manages it very well with diet and no meds.

Pretty ignorant take... That does nothing for the T1s who need insulin to live.

We are missing key data in an economic analysis: how much per standard dose or unit volume does it cost? I'm assuming insulin is sold by unit volume, not by units of time.

Fasting, my BG will go up 30 to 50 points per hour without any active insulin. No insulin and I'm dead in less than a week, even with no food.

If type 2 people controlled their blood sugar with diet, then overall demand would decrease and free up more for type 1, reducing cost for you.

Yes
Then Biden stopped it and is now restarting it but since it's (D)ifferent now, Biden gets all the praise for his "compassion"

So much misinformation.

  • The Trump administration, via executive order, put a $35 cap on copays for insulin FOR SOME Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans but did not lower the cost of insulin or EpiPens for most Americans who use them.
  • When Biden took office, his administration suspended all executive orders for 60 days that had not gone into effect - common behavior for an incoming administration.
  • H.R. 5376, also known as the Build Back Better bill, includes Trump's idea but goes much further with proposals aimed at reducing the cost of prescription drugs in pubic and private plan.

Price controls

And I take insulin, but price controls are liberal trash.

If Trump's cap was for Medicare only, it is a flat out lie to claim that Biden is trying to claim credit for something Trump did. Most people aren't on Medicare.

Medicare price controls are ok. Private insurance price controls is the problem. HTH. I know you don't care about capping prices for private insurance most of us see this as an overreach.

Who is claiming Trump deserves credit?

The government shouldn't be dictating private insurance.

Not true. It wasn't just Medicare:

Quote:

Require federally qualified health centers who purchase insulins and epinephrine in the 340B program to pass the savings from discounted drug prices directly on to medically underserved patients. This will increase access to life-saving insulin and epinephrine for the patients who face especially high costs among the 28 million patients who visit FQHCs every year, over six million of whom are uninsured.
Authorize the re-importation of insulin products made in the United States if the Secretary finds re-importation is required for emergency medical care pursuant to section 801(d) of the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act.

Create a pathway for safe personal importation through the use of individual waivers to purchase drugs at lower cost from pre-authorized U.S. pharmacies.

Yeah, the 340B program covers Medicaid too.

It keeps my T1D child alive. Every day.

I agree that type 2 diabetes can be mitigated nationally by people losing weight, but T1D is not reversible and attacks kids largely at random.

This post should not be construed as support for government intervention in the healthcare markets. Quite the opposite.
We may not always get what we want. We may not always get what we need. Just so we don't get what we deserve.

Price is a function of supply and demand.
If demand reduces, price will drop irrespective of supply.

That's great for normal good, but insulin is a necessity and is fairly price inelastic. As such, manufacturers have a captive market and can set whatever price they want without much change in demand.

As a physician and an insulin dependent diabetic that has taken insulin for 30 plus years, I can say there is so much stupidity on this thread it makes the mind boggle. From who takes insulin, how the price is set, the over the counter price to the comments about weight loss, it's clear people who don't know what they are talking about are always the first to speak.
