Here's the problem with this move. All oil is traded in US dollars. If Russia is removed from SWIFT, then all of Europe can no longer buy Russian oil/NG, which supplies 40% of their energy. This will have devastating implications for nearly all of Europe. And lesson number one why you do not trade with what you believe is an existential threat. This also goes beyond just energy.

Of course the US does this with China. So we're not exactly immune to the same behavior.

So I don't think this is actually going to happen, even if it should.

Any governing body for a currency can ban you from using SWIFT to close international transactions in that currency. EU for Euro, UK for pound, US for dollar, etc.

hundreds of Russian units are moving across the ONE major bridge from Crimea,

Kiev looks abandoned with no SAM defense.

This lady is the former spokesman for the Ukrainian president. Hope this is true.
