Powell hated Trump and said terrible things about him for years. His very last interview he spent deriding Trump for January 6 and said he was trying to overthrow the government. Now to be publicly respectful of the dead of one of such stature as Powell only furthers the harmful misconception that appearance means more than truth. We are fighting an internal enemy who thrives on good people being contrite and respectful in order to hide the truth, fool the ignorant, and frustrate those that oppose them.

It is not pointless to castigate your enemy, even in death, because the message is that truth is more powerful than appearances. By publicly stating the truth gives courage to those to abandon the fear of criticism and themselves speak the truth.
