I don't attribute these actions to revenge, evil, etc. In my opinion, the same cast of political characters are benefitting financially off of every vaccine used. The govt pays the manufacturers and somehow our corrupt politicians in this Admin are receiving kickbacks - it could possibly be as simple as they were given a heads-up and bought options at the correct time. Whatever the scam, it seems obvious they have a vested interest in as many vaccines being sold as possible. Cures hurt these people.

So get the vaccine multiple times and keep wearing a cloth mask. Think about it.

The link says they send it to states based on cases and states pass it out locally. Per the link someone put on the first page, red (southern) states are getting both the most overall doses and the most doses per capita.

When you sort that by raw doses, the states getting the most are - in order:
Florida
Texas
Georgia
Mississippi
Louisiana
Alabama
Tennessee
North Carolina
California

If you do it per capita (doses per population) you get:
Mississippi
Louisiana
Alabama
Florida
Arkansas
Tennessee
Kentucky
Georgia
West Virginia
South Carolina
Texas

If you do it per infection rate (doses per cases per capita) you get:
Florida
Texas
Georgia
Mississippi
Louisiana
Alabama
Tennessee
North Carolina
California

If this is the Biden administration punishing red states, their incompetence is even worse than suspected.

Way to put the screws to them there dude.
No ***** The decision to do this would have been based on the status of those very questions. They should already have the answers or there should have been no change to the policy in the first place. Why do they need a month to answer? Then it's another month of wasting time with hearings. Meanwhile people die. Democrats are dedicated, calculating and efficient anti-American activists. Republicans are dithering buffoons.

The timing of this is telling with covid fatality numbers falling in FL and TX. Gotta get those numbers back up!

Guess who is Assistant Secretary for Health for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). That would be Dr, Rachel Levine. The murderous Pennsylvania Health director that removed her mother from a nursing home then ordered COVID-19 + patients sent to nursing homes.

What are you going to do about it?

Exactly.
And you?

One thing that can be done is to abandon temporizing and equivocating. These are simply foes. A WH that takes out policy against states to deliberately let people a treatment helps die just so so they can spread money around at their Gala Met banquet crowds and lobbies is not anything other than a foreign govt. Less noble than most actually.

So you can stop splitting hairs. A good example is the nitpicking of the NY stadium protest --- thats one of the few tools the Right still has -- loud massed public displeasure. Stop equivocating. There are just two sides where despotism is concerned.

There isn't a shortage though. Why ration anywhere? If the other states need the drug then they should order it.

And the states with more infections are ordering more of the drug???? Why in the hell would that be the case?

My highly overweight friend who happens to be black just had great success with this. I was really worried when I found out he had covid given his high risk profile. He wasn't even hospitalized after the treatment and is fully recovered.

He is lucky to be alive. If he would have gotten the virus a few weeks later the Biden Administration may have resulted in his death. This is off the charts crazy stuff going on.

Yup. My very elderly parents got the treatment Friday. Doubt that would be an option at this point.

I know nothing other than the information linked. The website says they are using a system similar to the one used from November 2020 - February 2021.
Quote:

The increased incidence of the Delta variant of SARS-CoV-2 has caused a substantial surge in the utilization of monoclonal antibody (mAb) drugs, particularly in areas of the country with low vaccination rates. HHS is committed to helping ensure consistent availability of these critical drugs for current and future patients in all geographic areas of the country. As such, we have updated the distribution process for mAbs.

On Monday, September 13, HHS transitioned from a direct ordering process to a state/territory-coordinated distribution system similar to that used for the distribution of mAbs from November 2020 February 2021.

State and territorial health departments know best where product is needed in their areas. Transitioning to a state/territory-coordinated distribution system gives health departments maximum flexibility to get these critical drugs where they are needed most.

HHS will determine the weekly amount of mAb products each state and territory receives based on COVID-19 case burden and mAb utilization. State and territorial health departments will subsequently identify which sites in their respective jurisdictions receive product as well as the amount each site receives.
No idea if that's true or not. But Texas is getting the second most number doses after only Florida, and that matches up perfectly with the case count per capita. The problem may be somewhere between Montgomery County and Austin, not between Austin and DC. I don't know.

Who says they have to use any criteria that makes sense? Their own statements say they will monitor the data and then respond to the states. It looks like this is a play to also increase COVID numbers even more. Not only is money now tied to COVID, but access to life saving drugs that get metered out once a week? Every state is going to sounding the alarm to keep supplies on hand.

There are no checks and balances against the DHHS for being inconsistent, finding misleading ways to present data, and using delayed data to ensure that its tilted against his political enemies.

This is just yet another way the government wants to put pressure on people to get vaccines over any other therapy.

I don't know. How do we know there's no shortage on a nationwide basis? It may be that Texas was getting an outsized portion relative to our case rate. It may be that Dallas or Houston... or Florida.. are sucking up all the treatments. The Feds might have stepped in because some places with higher case counts might have not been able to get it. I'm spitballing.

But it does not look like a case of bureaucratic retribution to me, unless they're punishing blue states.

States with more infections are ordering more of the drug because more people need it for treatment. That seems to make sense, no?

You still don't get it... the process just changed so the numbers don't reflect the new policy yet.

Because it said so in the link from the government.

That could be. Or, there could be a limited amount of antibody treatments available and they may be trying to get them where they are most needed, or prevent hoarding. I have no idea.

There's a nonzero chance that Montgomery County could have just been 'robbed' by Harris or Travis county.

HHS/ASPR is committed to the equitable and efficient distribution of REGEN-COV with the goal of reaching as many patients as possible, no matter where in the country they live and regardless of their income. HHS is coordinating with Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc., AmerisourceBergen (the sole distributor of the drug), state and territorial health departments, and national healthcare and medical organizations and associations to get casirivimab/imdevimab into the hands of healthcare providers.

HHS/ASPR is managing the distribution of monoclonal antibody (mAb) products under EUA. There is no shortage of supply of this treatment. As such, qualified treatment sites can order casirivimab/imdevimab from the drug's sole distributor, Amerisource. Please see the direct ordering guide for further information and instructions. Direct orders for casirivimab/imdevimab are limited to 48 patient courses per site/per week, though sites with higher utilization can request additional courses.

Again, still not enough time. The Montgomery county judge just found about in the last day or two. I'm not sure what's hard about this part for you (unless you just like to argue).

That "no shortage" is from as far back at least as April. The update at the top is new, and I'd hazard a guess that supply has gotten tighter.

So the Montgomery Judge found out in the last day or two (Sept 12-13) about a change that happened yesterday (Sept 13) and went into effect today (Sept 14)? The numbers I posted are the allocation for this week, from Sept 14-21. What's there not enough time for?

I don't think Zobel just likes to argue any more than the rest of us. We're all guilty of that, its why we're here instead of answering emails.

I have been kind of mystified at the totality of Zobel's COVID responses. They are deeply founded in wanting really good data before making a decision (which is great), being educated about what the formal authority groups have to say (also great), and have strong convictions about decisions based upon the data (also fine). But there's always a handwavy-ness when its brought up just how much politics has put their thumb on the scale of the data and how that makes people cautious. The sum political weight of people, health organizations, hospital executives, government agencies, media, and the president are unfounded objections.

Zobel understands data, but people make human decisions. Data isn't everything. I think they've admitted to being an engineer, which if that is the case - their symptoms are incurable and we can only hope to treat aggressively.

By the way, I've really enjoyed Zobel's posts on this board and the religion board. I think they add a different backboard to the way this board does fly off the handle sometimes. Zobel could totally be right here. There could be a shortage and that Harris County could be robbing Montgomery of medicine. There also could not be a shortage at all and we all smell a political play.

Why is the FDA speaking out on ivermectin, a drug they approved for human use in 1996, proven to treat malaria, and won the Nobel prize in 2015 and has done well with Covid. They too are trying to push the "only horse medicine" bull*****
