By the numbers there thousands, probably tens of thousands though at that time being out during or even post service would not have been the move. You know we don't have some obvious tell also re: your segregation comment. I lived a pretty convincing life as a straight guy into my early 30's and even my mother had no clue (didn't waste some poor girls time in a fake marriage to be clear).

Clearly, reading comprehension is not your strong suit. Take a look again at what I wrote. Note the word 'known', which can be interpreted as having come out as gay. If you really believe that such a person would have been allowed to serve in such a capacity, then I have no further words for you. Notice I never stated there were no gay men serving, I stated who knows because such people would have hidden that aspect of their lives. Otherwise their lives would have been a living hell.
Homo flags should not be allowed in 3rd grade classrooms.

I assure you the gay men who served (and died) "knew" they were gay and it was known between a meaningful amount of them with 156k. No, there was no WW2 pride month, but they were there.
