I realize Texas may be too crowded for them, these days, and East of the Mississippi certainly is/maybe parts of the FL panhandle/parts of Alabama would be OK, but I read something about them preying on javelina and I wondered if they could prey on feral pigs.

Maybe but they would really prefer deer and eat lots of them when they are around as well as scare others away. Dee and elk is their main diet in the Rocky mountains and I have first hand experience with them in the hill country killing and scaring lots of deer decreasing numbers by a lot.

Mountain lions do so certainly jaguars would as well.

I have first hand experience with mountain lions in the hill country as explained above and they live off deer and elk in the mountains, jaguars I would assume be similar.

Be interesting to see how the Hog population is around the Northern Jaguar Reserve in Mexico. The Reserve is only 125 miles south of the U.S.-Mexico border. Been cases of Mexican Jaguars crossing the border in Texas, New Mexico & Arizona.

Jaguars are more opportunistic and more adaptable to a wide variety of habitats than other cat species.

They most certainly would eat feral hogs - they are highly aquatic - hell, they consume caiman in the wild. Their jaws are also exceptionally strong, being among the strongest per square inch of any carnivore.
I know a lot about a little, and a little about a lot.

A mountain Lion is the largest true cat (house cat family). The jaguar is a new world big cat (lions, tigers, leopards).

They are built differently and hunt differently for the most part. They both ambush but they stalk, chase, and even kill differently.

Jaguars go for a skull/neck bite to sever the spine.
Mountain lions are more throat biters causing asphyxiation.

Jaguars also get considerably larger and are stronger. They'd be more likely to go after a feral hog than a mountain Lion would I would think.

tigers would be better. Wild boar is mostly what Siberian tigers eat. I figure if we released about 10 thousand tigers across the state and they each ate 1 pig per week that would be 520,000 pigs per year. If there are 2.6 million hogs in texas and 50% of those are females and 80% of those are old enough to have offspring then 10,000 tigers should be able to eat about 1/10 of the feral hog babies every year. But if we released 100,000 tigers they could eat all of the feral hog babies and feral hogs would all die off in about 10 years.

Siberian Tigers eat whatever the hell want to.

There is a great book on them, The Tiger, by John Valliant.

Jaguars eat plenty of peccary in Central and South America. Yes, they would absolutely help with feral pigs.
