Just wanted to say, without Premium board moderation, that the Texas-Austin Longhorns are screwed long term because of the #woke policies they support around their campus and city.

The Premium Board Horn Tears is being heavily moderated to remove posts that mention Austin politics, even as it relates to Texas-Austin and their athletic problems.Troutslime said:
Can someone explain what this thread is about?

I haven't been there in about 4 years, has it really got to be as bad as people say? Like others have said, 10-15 years ago I would go down there multiple times a year and it definitely had a little bit of homeless population but still a fun downtown scene.

This seemed like the place to discuss those political issues.
Ditto - moved to Austin in 1970. Raised there and family stayed in the area. Thank goodness they are not in Austin proper anymore. I've probably been into Austin twice the past 6-8 years.AgNav93 said:
I'm from Austin. I haven't been there in about 6 years. All of my family and friends have moved out. Most have gone south of the city to Buda or Kyle. The last time I was in Austin I didn't recognize it. It doesn't even feel like home anymore.
It was always liberal city. Even in the 70s and 80s. But it's gone over the edge in the last 20 years. They really want to be Portland.
I was there in December of 2019 and it was absolutely shocking. That was the first time I had been down there in about 5 years previous to that. I drove straight from airport into downtown and it felt like you were entering a third world city.Legal Custodian said:

It's crazy now. We went for a staycation a few summers ago and my Longhorn wife kept commenting on how unrecognizable it was. She graduated in 2010, so it's not like shes left in the 80's. 6th Street was beyond ghetto. Felt bad for the businesses as the shady ass crowds out in the street prob kept a ton of people away. West 6th was even garbage, and that was a cool little spot just a few years ago.AgNav93 said:

It totally is. However outside of Houston, there are more Ags here than in any other part of the State of Texas.Detmersdislocatedshoulder said:

People like to bad mouth Austin and say it is just like San Francisco. Which is absolutely not true.Legal Custodian said:

SF County voted 85% for Biden and Travis County voted 71% for Biden so SF is still dumber than Austin by 14 points. Austin gaining ground though.EX TEXASEX said:People like to bad mouth Austin and say it is just like San Francisco. Which is absolutely not true.Legal Custodian said:

If you really compare the two cities it is only like 85% -90% like S.F.
Can't wait till we get an app for avoiding turds in street /on the side walks /parks. Then I will know we have hit the big time elite status of Big City Liberal **** Holes. You can do it Austin !!! Si se whatever.
"The University". Is this a new thing for y'all?Ellis Wyatt said:I went to The University. And I am likely more conservative than any poster on this board, as are many of my friends. And then?MooreTrucker said:Tells you all you need to know about this poster.Ellis Wyatt said:For one, the topic isn't even appropriately titled. The thread has nothing to do with "muh Longhorns," other than the fact that The University is in Austin. The University doesn't drive Austin social politics, certainly no more than transplants from California, Washington, and Oregon do.The Catalyst said:
How hard is it to click on a topic, realize it's not for you and to just ignore it forevermore?
"WrOnG FoRuM!!!!!!"
GOH with that nonsense.
**And I would likely never defend Austin for anything. Their politicians are morons, just like those of pretty much any major city in America.
Why is a ****ty thread that can't stay on Premium with its insufferable condescending posters appropriate for this board?
