This is misinformation in several parts. They are called texas university because that is how they referred to themselves, just like University of Oklahoma and University of Kansas called themselves OU and KU. We are Texas A&M University, they wanted to differentiate themselves as THE university in Texas, so they started emphasizing 'the university'. They then tried to claim tu was an acronym for 'the university' hen we all know it means 'texas university', but sips are slow to give up on propaganda.

I personally know a 95-year-old woman who graduated from t.u. in about 1950. She still calls it "Texas University".

A few months back I drove through the Austin area on my way to Dallas .. I pulled into downtown to meet a buddy for lunch .. I literally saw a bum taking a crap leaning against a building.. I laughed so hard I had tears .. Austin has literally turned into a "crap hole" full of bum dung
