It's been working in the past.

The whole thing just feels so surreal. When Tim Kennedy and others doing similar have me shaking my head at the whole situation. Not at them, bless them for doing what they can, but the very fact private entities are getting people in to get groups out via connections and back alley deals and running is insane to me. Its like a cartel operation or something and REALLY makes me question the conditions and control on the ground right now.

I know we have no real right to know those questions but I have so many questions at to how things are being run in Kabul. Because my assumptions from reading between the lines, it's chaos at best and little to no control at the worst.

From reports and hearsay it is pretty clear that there is a breakdown somewhere in the link of guys running the operation directly to their direct bosses on the ground, to their bosses in Washington.

That I don't believe. It is possible that the suicide attack was accompanied by a conventional attack and the soldiers engaged with people shooting at them. Both sides would have good odds of having used American small arms.

US soldiers have been under discipline for years to avoid firing around civilians to a pretty extreme degree regarding ROE. I doubt they open up unless they are being shot at and can see the armed shooter.

Similar to Walter in most every other way too. Great comparison.

Why would they be evacing more citizens? Remember...Everyone left wants to be there.

Three dates that i recently heard were confirmed that clearly indicated the taliban were about to take over:
July 2 - Bagram vacated
August 1 - US stopped shipping cash to the afghani government
August 15 - Kabul falls

How did they not see this coming - they clearly pulled cash ahead of citizens, equipment, and staff let alone sending more troops over. Aside from total stupidity, they must have seen this coming.
