This is the fear. Take out a Globemaster on the runway. Put some mortar/howitzer rounds on that runway and make it unusable and you have trapped potentially thousands of military/refugees in a box with no defensible positions, limited cover hours away from support except what was immediately on hand.

Mortar rounds dropping on the airfield is my largest concern. Deny our boys the ability to leave by air and we are in a world of hurt.

I could almost live with it as a parent if my son died rescuing real victims over there that would be killed or tortured by the taliban if we left them there. But, it doesn't appear that we are getting any of the good guys out. We are flying back known terrorists and almost no US citizens. The good guys and girls aren't making it to the airport. If just makes the deaths even more pointless.

I don't think they would do something that severe. One would think (hope) if that many American casualties would happen we would reign down holy hell on them and send troops back in.

Taliban got their country back on a silver platter from the USA, they want us to leave......I can however see more suicide bomber type of attacks and at least them trying to pick off a few more casualties that way.

thats my entire point. Joe already showed his cards that you can kill 10-20 at a time and it doesn't matter....If an entire plane or more went down he'd have to send in more troops, or someone would kill him first.

Bases would have the current FPCON listed at the gates, and depending on who you are or what you're doing, access might be restricted.
