Taliban ramp up on social media
As the extremist group sets itself up to govern, new pro-Taliban accounts and pages are mushrooming across Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.
These platforms consider the Taliban a terrorist organization and have long banned their content, but some members and sympathizers have managed to defy the restrictions and use the sites as a channel to spread their propaganda. Dozens of these new accounts publicly announce themselves as affiliated with the Taliban.
They post videos, images and slogans, often trying to amplify the assurances that the Taliban have brought peace to Afghans and convey the message that the Taliban are the true rulers of Afghanistan, different from the former corrupt administrations.
During the past week alone, their posts have racked up hundreds of thousands of views on Twitter and Facebook.

The DoD spokesman said there was AQ, but had a weak walk back when they pressed him that Biden said there was no trace of AQ in Afghanistan.

It's easy to do the longer we stay there.

Our guys on the ground are not trained for this. They are dealing with a literal impossible situation in a very hot and stressful environment surrounded by an agitated and stressed out mob. Tempers are going to flare and every little thing will be analyzed and misconstrued by the opposing side. And honestly it's smart as hell for them knowing what we know about the media now.

God we needed this. Some actual no joke reporting of the minute to minute situation. Kudos to that man for heading I to that mess, but we need non " government report " perspective and thankfully it seems like there are a few old school reporters willing to do that for us.

You have to realize entire American families moved there to work, its not the lifestyle most would chose, but free room and board for electricians, plumbers, HVAC guys, and premium pay.. I have friends that work in Saudi with there families, making 4 times a year what I make here in the states, and I'm not poor by any means, but they will retire by their 48th birthdays.

As someone that has lived and worked overseas , including in Iraq, the difference between Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan is massive. Like night and day, there are no similarities different.

It can be, but you have to be beyond insane to have brought your family to Afghanistan. And I would imagine that most if not all DoD or State Dept contracts would have been single status only. I could not have brought my family with me to Iraq had I wanted to, and no sane person would have wanted to. I knew two married couples that were together in Iraq. One couple had no kids and the other had kids living with their parents back in the States.
