Obviously depends on each individual situation, but I have seen many cases where the entire family moved to Afghanistan so one or both parents could work there, taking the whole family with them.Deepin theHart80 said:

This. My MIL was stationed in Turkey back in the day and my FIL and SIL moved there also for a brief period.TChaney said:Obviously depends on each individual situation, but I have seen many cases where the entire family moved to Afghanistan so one or both parents could work there, taking the whole family with them.Deepin theHart80 said:

Oh, no. Al Qaeda dates back basically to after the humiliation in Somalia (Blackhawk down) and Bin Laden's set-up of a group after that. They bomb the Khobar towers in 1995. The bozo that tried to blow up the WTC-1 under Clinton I believe was one of their members, or maybe a fellow traveller- -- 1993 is pretty early.IslanderAg04 said:richardag said:
Wonder what the possibility may be that the ISIS news is BS? A deflection to divert blame from Taliban murders to a fictional ISIS threat.
This has always been my confusion, ISIS and Al Queda are literally cells of the Taliban.

You have to realize entire American families moved there to work, its not the lifestyle most would chose, but free room and board for electricians, plumbers, HVAC guys, and premium pay.. I have friends that work in Saudi with there families, making 4 times a year what I make here in the states, and I'm not poor by any means, but they will retire by their 48th birthdays.

Taliban toward #Panjsher
— Muslim Shirzad (@MuslimShirzad) August 22, 2021
A Talib: We are heading toward #Panjshir , we have given them 4 hours, if they surrender, everything will be fine. Otherwise we will punish.
An anti-Taliban commander from #Panjsher to me: Taliban shouldn’t play with lion’s tail. They know us. pic.twitter.com/5mw92YfXyX
UPDATE:

Taliban has brought hundreds of vehicles as well as howitzers to Baghlan. These will be now pushed towards Panjshir, where Andarabi militiamen are fleeing. The militiamen are simply outnumbered and outgunned and I don't think this time there will be amnesty for them. pic.twitter.com/qDHqQsh3to

If the Taliban is sending this out that the gate on the civilian side is clear, is that a trap? Trying to get Americans to emerge and make a run for it?

Both, they want the optics of having everything under control.
They want to SIV personal more than American citizens, but I'm sure both will be "held for questioning" or some bull**** and become true hostages.
They want the optics to say see we have more control here, everything is fine, look at the American side and the chaos ect.
They setting a trap, setting optics and placating internationally for legitimacy

As someone that has lived and worked overseas , including in Iraq, the difference between Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan is massive. Like night and day, there are no similarities different.
