From what i have read, ISIS (whatever form it is today) is not allied with the taliban.

We should have held Kabul. Even if we were "surprised" initially it was obvious for several days that every city would fall. A remotely competent president would have ensured that our military denied the Taliban any possibility of capturing Kabul.

That opens up another question. The Americans must have known things were deteriorating fast. Heck, even Sir Lancelot (the british kid who was on "holiday" in Kabul) knew and made it to the airport in time.

I suspect many of the 10-15k americans (heard Hannity say it could be 40k) were scattered across the countryside and not in Kabul.

Would like to know where these contractors and etc. were located when the Taliban took Kabul.

According to the Taliban, they didn't plan to enter Kabul, but the Afghan government retreated so the Taliban had to come in to keep order in the city. They are also in constant communication with US to help facilitate the exits.
