They believed the us intel community who said kabul would fall in weeks/months, not hours. Wanted the shots of embassy evacuations...

Everyone thought this would take weeks. Kandahar and Herat were fighting for weeks.

Usually all it takes is one indirect fire event or even a false positive and youll get the shelter in place sirens. That may or may not be what is happening here, I just comment to say that this does not necessarily mean the airport is (yet) taking steady fire.
