I was tracking that flight earlier. It not on radar anymore. It looked like it was headed back to Kabul before disappearing, but it's usual for planes not be seen while flying over certain parts of Afghanistan.

There's also a small passenger plane that flew from Kabul with nowhere to land apparently.

Best of luck to him. The insane speed of this has caught everyone off guard. Taliban did an incredible job of capitalizing on momentum and convincing nearly everyone that surrendering was the right call.

There are some shenanigans going on with callsigns and tail numbers, as expected. Either way, the aircraft has an "N" tail number which means US-registered. Probably a CIA mission or similar to get him out. Also, most of the decent flight tracking sites (Flightaware, ADS-B Exchange) now use satellite-based ADS-B receiver feeds, so there is much less reliance on ground-based (volunteer-run) receivers.

U.S. embassy in Afghanistan advises Americans to 'shelter in place' as Kabul airport under fire

The U.S. embassy issued new guidance for American citizens attempting to flee the country as the Taliban take control of the government.

Previously, nationals were told to head to the Kabul airport, but the embassy advised that the airport was now "taking fire," and the security situation has changed.

"We are instructing U.S. citizens to shelter in place," a statement from the embassy read.

The embassy also posted a Repatriation Assistance Request form and advised U.S. citizens to not call the embassy for updates or details on flights.

The Taliban leadership may well desire their fighters not to attack the airport.. but it is important to remember that the 'Taliban' is not a monolithic top-down bureaucracy like a western military organization. Command and control is not as straightforward as it would be for a western force. The Talibs may be "ordered" not to lob mortars into the airport... but stuff is liable to happen because its not like these guys have W-2 cards and salaries . Imagine being tormented by a faceless adversary with the ability to kill you and your friends suddenly from above.... and now here they are on the backfoot and bottled up in one central location...

Not to derail the thread, but this guy had a tweet in November of 2020 about his 2 month old daughter being shielded from rocket attacks in Kabul and him praying she survives. 8 months later he's praying that same daughter survives this takeover.

At some point either be a responsible father and get your daughter out of harms way or quit using her for internet sympathy.
