This person is apparently from Afghanistan and living in the US. Her twitter bio includes 'free palestine' and the whole feed is essentially a continuous stream of hatred toward the US.

Case example 2 million of why we don't need more of them brought here, including her family which is being treated so horribly at the airport by US soldiers giving them MRE's and water.

Reports I have seen are "Troops loyal to the Afghanistan Vice President" and refer to them as Resistance fighters.
It's the former VP Amrullah Saleh working with the son of Ahmad Shah Massoud up in the Panjshir Valley to the north of Kabul. These will be mainly ethnic Tajiks who have never taken kindly to the Taliban or any other Pashtuns ruling over them. They were the core of the "Northern Alliance" when we initially invaded in 2001.

Looks like some consolidation of power happening now.

Well if that is true, the Lion of Panjshir is spinning in his grave. Saying this is a very fluid situation right now is an understatement.

I considered that was well, Taliban propaganda. Or it could be a feint by Massoud to buy some more time to gain strength before an offensive??

I obviously have no particular insight, but my GUESS is this is a Taliban effort at demoralization. Yesterday, Northern Alliance / pro-Massoud forces ambushed a group of Talibs and infliced ~ 15 Taliban KIA. An official Taliban Twitter account was promising death to Massoud over it... I've seen stranger things but it seems that 12-24 hours is a short time even in Afghanistan for them to have reconciled and Massoud to have bent the knee.

He also wrote an op-ed 2 days ago in the WaPo (may have been NYT I dont remember) basically doing his best Churchill "we will fight them on the beaches etc.").

Will the us provide material support to the resistance? Maybe wait until the airlift is done?

Or will Joe ignore the situation and let the resistance flounder?

Maybe that op-ed was a plea for U.S. help and of course the Biden admin refused?

DW:

Von der Leyen: EU aid 'tied to strict conditions'
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said the bloc will not recognize or hold talks with the Taliban.
"We may well hear the Taliban's words but we will measure them above all by their deeds and actions," von der Leyen told a news conference after visiting a reception center in Madrid for Afghan staff evacuated from Kabul.
The EU chief said she would propose an increase in the 57 million euros ($67 million) in humanitarian aid, which the Commission had allocated this year for Afghanistan. But she stressed that the aid is strictly tied to respect for human rights and women's rights, as well as good treatment of minorities.

No surprise the EU has no idea what they are dealing with.

On a serious note, the airlift just needs to end. Wheels up time. We can negotiate pricing on any American prisoners they take if so desired. Only way to end the bloodshed at the airport is tostop flying folks out.

So it may be an unpopular take, but why are we responsible for taking care of Afghans at the Kabul Airport who want to flee the country?

Get Americans out and get out of there. And then figure out what the hell to do next.
This is absolutely correct. This airlift isn't really helping Americans, it's only bringing some haphazard groups of Afghans (Sharia adherents) to other parts of the world, and displaying incompetence while doing so. It needs to just end, asap. Of course I am sure Milley is blathering to the WH leadership (not Biden of course) about how this needs to go on for months.

This. I thought it was telling in the state department interview I watched yesterday when a reporter was grilling and leading the spokesman on "why we were abandoning our afghan allies like this". And to prove that we weren't, the spokesman went on to share the numbers of the thousands of Afghans we've rescued.

He made the point (inadvertently or not) that we have prioritized rescuing Afghans over American citizens and again kept using the common refrain we've heard from Biden on Americans - "if they want to come home". IF, as if most of the Americans there want to stay and don't really matter to us.

It's sickening.

So, all the people who helped us because they were told we would take care of them and their families get told to go **** themselves? I'm pretty sure those people running from the shariah practicing Taliban want nothing to do with that ****. A lot of those people were waiting on a visa process the state department felt 0 urgency on and have plenty of sponsors from within the military community. Plenty will probably die waiting on the Biden administration to stop dragging it's get if they're not brought out now. Not every Afghan trying to leave falls into that group, but that's on us for waiting until the last second to get out **** together.

Milley wants this to end ASAP because it makes him look like a r****d. He's the actual military commander in all of this and the person in the chain of command at the intersection of responsibility and capability. He should have known better even more than Biden and planned for it. He'll go down in history as a moron and an example of what NOT to do.

A lot. Running from the Taliban has nothing to do with their views on religion. The vast majority of them will still be conservative Sunni Muslims and that is what we will be importing.

The conflict over there is a civil war, it is not ideological in the way we would think of it. It's the same reason brothers from the same family can be in the ANA and Taliban at the same time. Sometimes it breaks down along tribal lines as well, but bottom line we are importing large numbers of conservative Sunni Muslims. Their children are much more likely to convert your children then these people are to adopt the tenets of Western Civilization or Christianity.

First, only a few helped 'us' and most of the folks at the airport haven't at all. The 'help' was for their own country (again, if at all). The standard form which is being copied which state sent out won't help identify which are actual interpreters.

I really, really don't care to import more sharia adherents to the US/Europe/Canada/Australia (they're being given this choice once they land in the persian gulf, with no vetting). Sorry, we're full here, maybe try an arab country. There are a lot of muslim countries in the world, arab or not.

It's unfortunate we have such incompetence leading the US, but it is what it is. I can't say what these folks should do next, but it probably involves working to improve their environment/country. The US should never again promise to take anyone who works with us in a foreign war to the US if a Democrat ever surrenders arbitrarily.

So, the Taliban continues to use Twitter for propaganda and communication purposes while we have American citizens that are potentially being killed by the Taliban? And our president was banned by Twitter? That doesn't make any sense.
