I see what you are saying man, I really do.

It is a win win for democrats. No question about that.

Even if the Court backs Abbott, we will still have large scale civil disobedience in major metro areas. They've already said thats what they intend to do.

I don't see Scotus dealing with this issue in time for it to make a bit of difference. They will sit on it until the issue becomes moot.

Democrats will do anything they want until the GOP is prepared to stop them. I pray that come soon.

You are one confused person. Civil disobedience in what way?

If the court backs Abbott's order which they will and anyone does not comply. What happens when someone tries to enforce any mask mandate against the governors and Supreme courts order? They would continually be sued and lose.

I know if RISD tries to continue any mandate i will personally be taking them to court.

What in the world are you even talking about SCOTUS. There is nothing on the current cases that would remotely involve them.

I live in a big metro area, and I should get what I voted for and your Libs are subject to the majority of like minded individuals within this geographic area: TEXAS

A county judge, ISD head or mayor cannot issue an edict that goes against the Governor

That's the way the system was set up from the beginning.

Sorry your mask mandate is going to lose.

It's truly discouraging to see how genuinely and painfully stupid people are.
And it's not nice to call people stupid. I know. I'm sorry. But dangit, man.

Let me clear this up for those who don't understand:

If a state prohibits a local government from actively forcing its citizens to do something, that's not exercising control over the local government.

It's an active vs passive paradigm. When the state forces a local government to do something, then it's active.

When the state says, "You can't force citizens to wear green on Monday", they aren't controlling the local government.

They're keeping the local government from controlling its people.

It's really a good idea. That way, when you get to Thrall from Rockdale, you don't have a completely different set of circumstances to navigate.

The most ridiculous part of all this is it being such a decisive issue that we have legislators and legal teams involved in this.

Agreed

Basically boils down to leftists don't want to feel silly wearing a mask so they demand everyone have to wear one so they don't feel like they are standing out

Forcing kids to wear masks IS a divisive issue.

What's amazing is people are actually for it

And it has nothing to do with "not wanting to look silly". Leftists want control over you and your children.

Lol wut? They agreed with one judge's opinion of a three judge panel. It happens all the time. It was a 2-1 vote in El Paso and you're arguing that it's crazy in the 10,000 plus cases you claim to have read that no court has decided with the 1-2 dissenter before. That's nuts.
I don't think you get what he meant.

The way I read it it is (my words) - "When judges just make stuff up to do whatever they want, they don't normally admit that that's what they're doing and the other side is actually correct."

Forcing ANYONE to wear a mask is a decisive issue.

They're a false sense of security. 99.9999% are not rated or fitted and everyone is putting them on, taking them off, touching their face and then touching stuff that someone else then touches etc etc etc

Plus something with a 99.7% survival rate just isn't worth what it's done to our country mentally, socially and economically.

All Covid has done is proven how easily the government can create fear and control the population.

If masks worked, wouldn't they become bio-hazards and need to be treated as such?

Yep. And if they worked, why would we need a vaccine for a virus that has a 99.7% survival rate?

This is being applauded by 90+ percent of people on the Hays County Facebook page. Apparently San Marcos/Kyle/Buda has become Austin.

Appears people love being told what to do.

Bingo! I think this is a huge part of the majority of the naive dem. The evil leftist does it and screams about it because they're evil leftists. The feels part of the dem party don't want to feel they've been mislead and feel stupid about their choices. It's human nature.

Yes it sucks, but we forget that the vast majority of Americans follow no current events and if they ever bother to pay any attention it's from the 3 second headline from a major propaganda outlet

So regular uninformed parents panic when they hear intentional misinformation like "5k kids infected with COVID in a week!!!" And Dems prey on that fear with things like mask mandates which feel good but accomplish nothing but still let the sheep feel safe and like their local Dems are doing something

Does anyone have information on the progress against Dora's order? I would be asking the TIne Covid Thread but for some reason it will not load. I got a disgusting coercive letter from my kids school and id like some more ammo when i send my kid in tomorrow without a mask. I mean, she was never going to wear one anyways, but i want more ammo. TIA.

A great majority of our population would gladly give up freedom for security.
Covid has proven that and it's one of the reasons why we are morphing into a socialist state.

If the Supreme Court of Texas had any sense of right and wrong or cared about the law, they would throw out all of these "Disaster Act" orders from Abbott on down to Jenkins, Hidalgo, et al.

They will uphold current law which will side with Abbott.

I do agree we should put some limits on the emergency management law. I would suggest very short durations (3 to 7 days) unless they are confirmed by the legislature and they must be revoted on every ~14 days.

But those changes need to be made by the legislature not the court.
Im Gipper
How long do you want to ignore this user?
That is what I expect also. Its a bigger issue than that though. They should have been striking down this *******ization of the Disaster Act all along. It was never designed to let Governor Greg (or anyone) tell the people they had to wear a mask to go buy toilet paper or tell restaurants they could not serve people while standing at the bar.

My point is it should go to the governors, no matter the political persuasion. Can't leave it to local judges or mayors.
Im Gipper
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Well your "point" does not have anything to do with what I posted. Republicans are also making a mockery of this law. SCOTX was okay with it the last year.

Its the Democrats turn now, and as usual they go above and beyond the call of lawlessness.

My "point" was we still have a republican gov. Not the dems turn yet.

Women should be able to go maskless and topless.

I'm in for the long run here.

agree but this is, unfortunately, for the legislature to fix. I would suggest a law that says an emergency declarations expire by their terms after 72 hours unless the Governor convenes a special session of the legislature to extend.

Do lawyers take science courses in college? Basic science and math tell us masks are useless, yet...here we are.

"The Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution was never designed to restrain the people. It was designed to restrain the government."

I walk my dog every day through a neighborhood park (basketball court, etc.) that is across the street from a middle school. The kids congregate here every day after school, and last school year there were discarded paper mask EVERYWHERE. So many you had to step over the or walk around them. Trash barrels nearby, but you know kids. This can't be good and nobody wants to pick them up.
