I haven't read the opinion but it's not a shock. You knew the way the hearing was held that this judge was pissed off.

I had a case against a large corporation in federal court. They offered my clients six figures and the dumbasses wouldn't take it, against my advice. Of course the judge later granted SJ and I had to go to the 11th circuit court of appeals. The mediator at the 11th circuit told us "we have a reputation of shooting the wounded." A federal judge is one of the most powerful persons on the planet. Appointed for life and almost impossible to get removed. If you think they did something wrong, your only recourse is getting a circuit court of appeals to reverse them or get the case to the US Sct? Good luck with that.

Why in the last few years have you become reflexively defensive and default to ad hominin every time someone posts something you even slightly disagree with? A couple more things I noticed in the order:
1. Emily Newman got hosed in this. She only spent about five hours on this case, and had little involvement, and she gets to share equally in all the sanctions when it's readily apparent that Powell, Wood, and Kleinhendler were the ones driving the bus. I understand the concept of "you signed it, you own it," but it seems a bit unfair to her. She's going to spend more time taking CLE at her own expense than she spent on the case. Big ooof.
2. Greg Rohl, what are you doing? You told the court you reviewed an 830 page motion in "well over an hour," and filed it. He must be the best speed reader on the planet. I'm not saying he lied to the court, but claiming he reviewed this adequately before filing it seems spurious.
3. Lin Wood is up to his neck in it. He lied to the judge's face about his involvement in the case. If he really wasn't involved at all, he should have told the court his name was erroneously added to the case as soon as he knew about it, not six months later when he's being hit with a sanctions motion.
4. I'm not sure anyone will be disbarred over this, but Powell is likely the leader for anything happening to someone. The fact that she was fundraising to bankroll this nonsense, she'll likely be paying sanctions out of the funds she grifted from people, and she said under oath that she'd file this trashfiling again isn't going to sit well with a disciplinary committee. This whole lawsuit was a con, plain and simple. Wood is probably next in line for lying to the court. Again, I don't think disbarrments are coming, but suspensions could be in order.

Problem is those cases weren't ever heard and were thrown out on BS tieline issues. The court refused to take up cases prior to Nov 3rd claiming they were jumping the gun and then rejected them afterwards claiming they were too late. No cases were heard on the merritts of the cases just dismissed on procedural garbage and that ever moving timeline.
