Honest question, why would you allow a 6 and 8 year old to get the vaccine when zero kids their age are dying from the virus, the vast majority no bad symptoms at all?

Because they are around immunocompromised older folk that can't get vaccinated. And kids being out sick, even if mild, isn't worth taking PTO over so I'll shoot them up with every vaccine under the sun.

But the main benefit to getting vaccinated is to mitigate symptoms. There is no evidence that those vaccinated can't spread it. They certainly can contract it.

Can Vaccinated People Spread the Virus? We Don't Know, Scientists Say.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Thursday walked back controversial comments made by its director, Dr. Rochelle P. Walensky, suggesting that people who are vaccinated against the coronavirus never become infected or transmit the virus to others.

That information is dated. More evidence has shown that the vaccines reduce transmission, just like other vaccines do. It was always why it was stupid to make vaccinated people mask.

Vaccinations are not 100%. You can still get COVID, you can still spread it. But it does reduce the probability of that happening. See the article below that vaccinations do reduce the transmission probability. So somebody making that choice is making it based on their own risk factors and what they think is the 'least risky' path for them. There is no 'zero risk' path.

It's a month old. No, there is not more evidence disputing it!

And there is no evidence showing masks do a damn thing to reduce transmission either!

No. Got sore on shoulder from shot 1. Took 500mg Acetaminophen 1 hour before I got 2nd shot, only felt the stick. No other side effects.

Wife got Covid last summer. Fever, sore, felt miserable. I had an asymptomatic case. We both took the vaccine.

I'm one of those people that only rarely get sick for any reason.

When I was in Special Ops in the Marine Corps, about every other week, I got shots of every conceivable disease and some that most people never heard of. I used to give blood regularly, but when I got out I gave once and they wrote me a letter saying 'Thanks, but no thanks--PLEASE don't give any more blood!' Somethings going on in there that works against most disease.

To be clear, I'm a conservative guy, and would support anybody's decision to forego any vaccine or meds on principle, but I tend to think many of the fears folks have are overblown.

April 1 is two months ago. This is based on May 27. Since that time the CDC and others have cited more studies and real world information pertaining to significant reductions in transmission due to the vaccine. Hence their loosening in guidance.

A growing body of evidence indicates that people fully vaccinated with an mRNA vaccine (Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna) are less likely to have asymptomatic infection or to transmit SARS-CoV-2 to others.

I have never been sick in my entire 42 years of life. Never adhered to any form of Covid 19 restrictions. Never got sick.

I have never taken the flu shot, never had strep throat or even bronchitis so tell me why I should get this vaccine?

The CDC also says this about Immunocompromised individuals. There is no CDC recommendation against them getting the vaccine.

Quote:

Immunocompromised patients can receive any currently authorized COVID-19 vaccine...

You said this:

My brother and I haven't gotten it yet. He works in pharma and refused to get it. He just went through covid last week so he's good now anyway. Our parents got it which we both supported considering they are pushing 80. They had no impact from the shot.

One of my best friends regrets getting it. It made him very sick and he's never really gotten back to 100%. Just like covid itself the vaccine seems to be pretty squirrelly and impacts people differently and with some random effects.

For those of you that haven't and aren't , I could care less. If you subsequently get Covid, I could also care less.

Everyone is entitled to make their own decisions and live with the consequences be they good or bad.

Same here. Mask don't work. Mask mandates are heavy handed trash. COVID is was basically harmless for most of us. Most of the people that died of COVID would have died anyway. We put millions of Americans out of work over unfounded fear.

However, vaccines are harmless. They are miracles of innovation. Everyone should be cheering the success of these vaccines. And not just because of COVID but because of what the vaccine technology may do in the future.

Then the CDC, per usual is completely inconsistent and cant be trusted, imo.

The article I posted completely contradicts the CDC director's comments from earlier.

People aren't going to have regrets unless there are side effects in the future. I don't expect anyone to have regrets now, there's no downside other than a day or two of possibly feeling ill.

I have a slight autoimmune issue, so I'm not taking it yet and I'm also not in a high risk category. My dad thinks it's dumb to get it on a population level, but he's 70, in a higher risk cat and thus he and my mom have taken it. As has my sister and my wife. I tried to get her to wait, and showed her the CDC data of who's most at risk and she made her own choice, she's also returned to her office.

I did speak with my pulmonologist who has been working the COVID ER & ICU's and I asked if I was high risk, he said no. Yes I may get COVID, but the odds of me ending up in the hospital are low, and I'd rather take a different treatment if that becomes the case.

And in watching the weekly case numbers, I'm not overly concerned, I still WFH and I've gone out every weekend to run errands etc...and haven't contracted it. And it's still not FDA approved, I will refuse until it is at the very least.

Had my second jab in January. Had a low grade fever and headache for about 18 hours and a sore arm for a week. I feel fine and gave had no side effects. Honestly the meningitis vaccine was worse.

No regrets although I would not have minded better 5G coverage.

Got it in February, one day of fever and fatigue after the second, no regrets.

I respect everyone's choice to get or not to get the vaccine, but there needs to be some intellectual honesty and consistency.

No Vaxxer: I don't trust it because it hasn't been tested, there is no scientific proof it works or will not harm me. I'm not going to take it until it is backed by science.

Also: This thing could make you sterile, have all sorts of health issues, so I'm not going to be a guinea pig. There's no science to back that up, but I'm not going to take it based on speculation of what could happen.

If you do not believe it has the science to back it up, fine, but don't use wildly unscientific reasons to not get it in your argument.

There is one major exception to that approach. The virus is so low risk below mid-age that it makes no sense for pregnant women to take it. They are so notoriously susceptible to any number of interferences during the gestation its a fool that adds a major unknown to that mix. Why roll the dice for so low a risk compared to taking an experimental thing that actually involves processes related to internal body balance.

Now for the most at risk group, with some exceptions of course, you could argue the risk of becoming sterile hardly matters at that age.
