So, you provided an example in history when something went terribly wrong. (...bUt WhAt AbOuT HiTlEr????) but made no attempt to even begin to explain what characteristics the two have in common.

Good job, so did I. (Challenger)

You clearly missed my point entirely about what these people do when things DONT go wrong.

Thanks for enlightening us with your superior intellect though.

I took it because I don't like being sick. Hate it. So there was a free out to eliminate that chance. I also like the idea that I am not contributing to future spread.

Regardless of its affect on you personally, if you have been infected with covid you are a link in the global spread.

Texas A&M has come a long way in 20 years. Twenty years ago our debate over the Bonfire accident was often about groupthink and risk management. Now it is just a concrete monument on a corner of the campus.

Same. I'm still more likely to die in a car crash.

As a result I haven't taken the vaccine, but I do place myself in the most open areas of traffic I can, while driving at or slightly above the traffic flow when necessary. I avoided an accident with a maniac in a dump truck yesterday as a consequence of giving myself an out.

Studies show that COVID-19 vaccines are effective at keeping you from getting COVID-19. Getting a COVID-19 vaccine will also help keep you from getting seriously ill even if you do get COVID-19.

CDC? Lol

Can you link me to a credible organization?

So it can help keep you from catching it some or most of the time is what you're saying?

Let me give it a try...

From the late 90's through the mid '00s, under both Democratic and Republican leadership, large private industry and the US govt combined on an ostensibly noble mission (increase home ownership to record levels).

While this mission was not without virtue, a combination of unaligned political incentives, private industry profit motive and governmental bureaucratic incompetence led to a situation that spiraled out of control to disastrous effect.

Many of us were mumbling in the background that this would end badly, and watched the slow-motion car crash we predicted unfold in the late 00's.

Unintended consequences indeed.

the covid situation is a different verse from the same song.

That is one of the songs I play during my walk/old man jog days.

How times have changed, this was a liberal protest song against the supposed conservative group think. Now it perfectly describes the bizarre leftist progressive Democratic Party leadership and their minions. Makes me chuckle every time I listen to it.
Among the latter, under pretence of governing they have divided their nations into two classes, wolves and sheep.”

"It's not experimental." Name the other approved mRNA "vaccines".

Quote:

Never before have mRNA vaccines such as the two-dose Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna vaccines that have now received emergency use authorization from the FDA been approved for use in any disease.
https://www.health.harvard.edu/blog/why-are-mrna-vaccines-so-exciting-2020121021599
Harvard counts as a source, right?

And if it's not experimental, the FDA should have approved it? That should put that topic to rest. mRNA technology, not vaccines, have never been successfully used before.

Under emergency use authorization, there can't be an effective alternative. Like Ivermectin, that is inexpensive. Pennies per treatment. (It's great by the way.)

Anyone recall the government / leading doctors advising patients how to prevent or treat Covid at home? Go home, get worse, then come see the hospital?? Never before has this been the recommended strategy. Why now?

Avg age of death pre-Covid = 78.6 years. Avg age of Covid deaths = 78.6 years. Where'd the flu go? Masks? LOL!

Absolute Risk Reduction(ARR) of the whole population - what is effective rate of the jab for the whole population? 1 to 3%. That right there should be the OH SH*T moment for your jabbers. Life is about risk reward and you errantly just pushed your chips into the middle of the table betting heavily on risk disguised as reward.

You people who got the jab, do some serious mental gymnastics to justify the dangers of Covid and partake in the unknowns of new "science".

And for the red cross badges who post on Texags, when delayed ADE strikes this Fall, still gonna feel good about leading the vulnerable to jab? Come soothe the masses and reassure them that their life in YOUR hands and that of Pharma is worth being a lab rat.

It is flat or embarrassing to watch so many Republicans trot out the same statistically illiterate lines as the anti vaxxers. We have distributed ~250M doses of vaccine here in the USA and serious side effect rates are approaching one in a million, yet people on here are acting like they're death in a syringe.

Want to know a cynical political take on why the democrats are pushing the vaccines so hard? Because they know that lots of Republicans will dig in their heels and scream "democrats pushing it, so NO," giving the democrats some nice political meat heading into 2022, since they'll get to paint the Rs as the dumb party. Put another way: remember the "whitewashing the fence" story in Tom Sawyer? That's you guys. You're being manipulated by a cheap psychological trick and you're not only too dumb to realize it, you're bragging about the outcome. You're PROUD to be whitewashing that fence.

To the 62 year old saying he wasn't going to get the vaccine: if you catch covid, you have a 15-20% chance of hospitalization and a 1-3% chance of death, assuming no other major comorbidities.

https://www.economist.com/graphic-detail/2021/03/13/our-covid-19-model-estimates-odds-of-hospitalisation-and-death

Do you really think those are better odds than the one in a million chance of side effects from the vaccine? Stop letting the democrats tell you what to do via manipulation and make the right decision for yourself.

If you already had covid, or if we're talking about a kid under 12 who doesn't really spread it, then screw the vaccine. But for everybody else, there is no data that makes a compelling case against it. None.

Its pretty clear to most people that the virus was created / modified in a lab.

What do you think the purpose of it is?

People that are suspicious of the vaccine are just thinking a few steps ahead, thats all.

People complain that there are too many lawsuits.

Fear of lawsuits is about the only tool we have to keep companies that manufacture products in check.

With that barrier removed, it turns into a free-for-all, which is what we are seeing now with the competing versions of the vaccine.

Nobody gives a **** about side effects.

The mission is simple, produce and sell a much product as possible.

Get a slice of that pie.

If you come down with a side effect, I'm sure they'll be happy to sell you another drug to treat that ailment.

Its a bitter pill, but its time we start being honest about whats going on here.

I've got a proposition. If the government and vaccine manufacturers will waive their legal immunity I will take the vaccine. From where I'm sitting looks like I'm taking 100% of the risk if I'm harmed by the vaccine. The vaccine manufacturers on the other hand have millions to gain and absolutely nothing to lose.

The tin foil hats are out again

The vaccine is safe. 250 million doses given and almost 0 percent of people have had any serious side effects. I would say thats a large enough sample size to come to the conclusion that no harm will be done from taking it

I know plenty of people who've had problems with them. My SIL just told us today of a friend who was hospitalized after the second shot. She's out of the hospital now but is recovering with fluid on the brain and the doctors refuse to admit it's a vaccine side effect. That's why VAERS is so underreported, even with 4000 deaths listed.

If this is true the vaccine manufacturers should wave legal immunity as a public service. If they were willing to expose themselves to some legal jeopardy it would help increase the vaccination rate. Strange they, Faucci, and the Biden administration haven't thought of this isn't it?

so... for you folks advocating that only 250 people MIGHT have had a side-effect (1 in million side effects and 250 million doses given), can you please explain pulling the J&J when 8 people might have had side effects. (we will go with your 1 in a million number as I believe that there were 10 to 12 million doses given.)

I am no anti-vaxxer. I have been vaxxed more than most of you. mRNA is unknown and unproven. 250M people may have gotten Vaxxed in the last few months, but that doesn't mean it is proven. Nor are the 1 in a million numbers proven.

What is proven is that people, have not been, and are not dying all over the place from Covid. Just isn't happening. But you can drama all you want.

Veterans are the most vaccinated contingent of the entire population. Thats a 100% fact.

Veteran contingent is also the least enthusiastic about the vaccine (in my experience)

Veterans generally have a good sense of when something is about to go down. Way more than the average person.

I think a lot of people can see that, and simply want no part of this drama.

Its as simple as that.
