Cop was fired. Someone with authority thought what he did was wrong.
"RICHMOND, Va. (AP) One of two police officers accused of pepper-spraying and pointing their guns at a Black Army officer during a traffic stop has since been fired, a Virginia town announced late Sunday, hours after the governor called for an independent investigation into the case.
The town of Windsor said in a statement that it joined calls from election officials, including Gov. Ralph Northam, in requesting an investigation by Virginia State Police into the December 2020 encounter in which two Windsor officers were accused of drawing their guns, pointing them at U.S. Army second lieutenant Caron Nazario and using a slang term to suggest he was facing execution."

Hopefully they get a sane jury when this hustler takes it to trial and they tell him to pound sand.
Or maybe he violated department policy and got fired for being a dip****.

After the altercation, the suit says that officer Gutierrez said he understood why Nazario looked for a lighted place to pull over, and said: "I get it, the media spewing race relations between law enforcement and minorities. I get it."
He should be fired regardless for demonstrating such a complete lack of self and situational awareness.
"I get why you pulled into a well lit area off the side of the highway. It's because the media makes cops like me out to be an ***hole. Let's just ignore me not using any level of critical thought, pulling a gun on you, and pepper spraying you while you had your arms in the air outside your window. It's not like I just completely validated every bad thing, 'the media,' says about cops."
Yeah. It's the media's fault for making you seem like a jackass. I can't imagine why some people have such low opinions of cops.
You get what you give. Cops go into every situation assuming the worst about the people they're pulling over. Now those people go into every situation assuming the worst about the cops pulling them over.
The dip**** refused to get out of the car after being told what seemed like 100 times! "what is going on", "why am I being stopped", "I'm not getting out of the car:", "why you treating a serviceman this way" (like they know you're in the service!), etc, etc... Get your ass out of the car, jackhole! The cops stopped what they believed to be a potential criminal and his completely obstinate, idiotic response escalated the situation.
The media's narrative on cops interacting with the black community is based on lies. Michael Brown and George Floyd, the most famous incidents, were criminals engaged in criminal activity which precipitated the interaction! For you to imply that the media has shown even a sliver of accuracy when painting the pic of the current state of police/black community interactions is ridiculous. I'm sorry that blacks are buying into lies, but the police are under no obligation to risk their lives because they do.
Are there a-hole cops, yeah. I've dealt with many. But in this case, had the Lt gotten out of the car like he was told, we would not be talking about this. It's not illegal or against policy to pull a gun on a potential suspect. If it is, please enlighten me.
This looks to be a social justice firing to me. Until I hear more about the reason behind the firing, that's my take.
