I think we can blame this rise of weirdos on the lack of bullying. I think bullying can be a good thing to an extent. Lots of weirdos would be better off if they were bullied as kids and overcame that bullying

Pretty much everyone who bullied growing up ended up being a meth addict or just a failure in life.

Bullying is for insecure, sad losers who project all their shortcomings onto someone perceptively weaker than them.

This is correct. "Bullying" in the sense of asserting physical or emotional dominance over a weaker victim to make their life miserable just because you can is not ok.

But many of us growing up, when we said something stupid, had either older siblings/friends/classmates or even adults tell us the shut the **** up. When we did something stupid, people told us (appropriately) that what we did was ****ing stupid, and don't do it.

These days, nobody is being told to shut the **** up when they open their mouths and say something patently moronic. We need to get back to those days.

actually some of them- the ones who are the most skillful at it- go on to become CEO'S and politicians.

bullies tend to have sociopathic tendencies and a lack of empathy for others which psychologists have proven is a defining trait of both CO'S and politicians.

The only difference between the politicians and CEO's and the bully who burns out and is washing cars for a living is that the CEO's had the intelligence and social awareness to bully more intricately and in a way that didn't make them social pariahs.

Large cities and online conversations create anonymity. It also allows for people who like bad behavior to find other people with similar shortcomings. These groups not only don't feel shame for their behavior now, but actually feel proud about it. This kills the shame that kept bad behavior in check.

When shame dies, society suffers.

We aren't most mammals.

Secondly bullying shouldn't be allowed. We should allow kids to defend themselves.

OP is off base in using bullying, there's no room for that but there is room for kids solving their own conflicts and relying less on mom, dad, teacher etc. The policies put into place in schools that there is no room for fighting even if someone punches you or your child and you punch back is part of the problem of kids not knowing how to defend themselves. Kids were raised to use words and not fist and this is why we have this cancel culture and shouting at people that have opinions different opinions than ones that they hold.

Advice for effective bullying. Awesome. Any advice on how to better assault people or steal stuff?

Getting your ass kicked a few times is a good life lesson. It was for me at least.

Did you deserve to get your ass kicked? Maybe, I wasn't there.

Does the chubby kid deserve having their ass kicked? The 13 yo Goth punk? The shy kid? The gay kid? The kid with acne? Then nerdy kid wearing a Boy Scout uniform?

Goth punk yes, all others no.

Why the Goth punk? For dressing stupidly? If wearing silly clothes gets you beat up the you can't leave out those sporting the silly Boy Scout garb.

Bully's need to be careful. Sometimes they run into a bigger fish and get tuned up like a cheap guitar. You never know who you're dealing with. You can be a bully as a kid but try that **** in the real world.

Most of my bullies from school ended up exactly how I expected. Some are felons, some are single moms, some are in dead-end jobs, and almost all are losers.

Not sure why you'd cheer them on.

Productive? Please, a bunch of nerds. Weak and pathetic. They deserve to be bullied. It's so obvious.

That's how this works right? Someone believes a person deserves to be bullied thus it's so?

I've seen some lefties grow up. At least the ones I saw were normal as a child. Programming in school slowly influenced them and their peers. And then it gets ramped up more in college.
And to an even greater extent by the media, social media, and the media / social media influencers / masters.

Using the mindset of some here I'm afraid the Goth Scout will have to be bullied twice.

This feels like the Karate Kid debate vs. bullying people for no reason. Two things can be true at once. I don't think most of you are having the same conversation. Bullying people because you're bigger or meaner than them isn't ok. Punching a kid that has been pestering or picking on you constantly may not be ok but it certainly solves a lot of problems, both immediate and long term. Those two situations are not at all the same.

Maybe some light bullying by someone not actually a bully... somewhat like a teacher. Bullying occurs in all walks of life so teaching kids how to handle it, like any other life experience, is useful. True bullies deserve nothing but grief. It's one of life's great pleasures to bring a true bully to his or her knees.

Agreed.

Agreed- and good kids kept them in check by being leaders- but liberals changed leadership to group think instead of standing on your own- and made excellence or achievements bad. Those weirdos saw the opening and ran with it.

My big brothers told the clowns to knock it off, they wanted to learn. Now the clowns would either report or start a ruckus or claim racism and maybe start a fight, where both kids get thrown out of school and get a ticket. So good kids backed off and became apolitical, and at early age strive to take care of their own business- and we olds call them selfish- maybe not giving back is a defense mechanism

I was bullied as a kid for being chubby and short, by the 7th grade I shot up to 5'6". I then started playing football and was on a swim team. I then learned how to stand up for myself and to assert myself. I think the bullying itself ignited a fire in me to become the best version of myself possible that I still have inside me today, complacency is the devil

Can you actually "shoot up" to 5' 6"?

Depends on how "bullying" is defined. The anti bullying movement defining it very broadly and covers even mild peer pressure.

If somebody makes someone do something they don't want to do in the form of bullying then that's not a good thing. Isn't that what current cancel culture and wokeness is doing or would you call it peer pressure?
