The actor has been a fervent critic of Facebook and in November 2019 launched a campaign against the platform, deeming it, and Twitter: "The greatest propaganda machine in history."


"The algorithms these platforms depend on deliberately amplify the type of content that keeps users engagedstories that appeal to our baser instincts and that trigger outrage and fear," Baron Cohen said of Facebook in a keynote speech while accepting the ADL International Leadership Award. "It's time for a fundamental rethink of social media and how it spreads hate, conspiracies, and lies."

"All this hate and violence is being facilitated by a handful of internet companies that amount to the greatest propaganda machine in history," he told an audience in New York.

He also condemned Facebook for running political ads without fact-checking.

Was going to say the same thing. How do we not know this isn't another one of his bits? We can't take him seriously because you never know if he's being Borat the bit guy or his real persona.

Also, I find it rich that he's using Trumps actions as the reason he thinks FB and Twitter are manipulating us and causing all of this hate and conflict. Clown world take.

Yep. Imagine telling someone in Britain about why they should or should not do Brexit or vote Labour vs Conservative. They would not handle it well.

What's more amazing is that SBC is a smart guy. His mini-series on the Israeli spy was brilliant. He even graduated from Cambridge. Most of his schtick began as an anti-semitism ploy. How can such a pro-Israel jewish actor not support the president that has done more for the people of Israel and the Jewish community as a whole? I've never understood that disconnect from the Jewish community.
