I guess I don't get the general concession of some of you. Seems like no matter what shakes loose the nxt 24-48-72hrs there's a lot of legal battles to be fought.
I'm not betting ANY money on Trump eventually pulling this out. I just think we've got a long way to go.

The system fighting itself using its constitutional powers is not civil war.
Issuing a directive to use armed agents to enforce the court rulings...what happens when someone still refuses?
What happens when someone from the opposition shows up with their own gun?
Lexington and Concord...
Fort Sumter...
Learn your history...it takes one person losing their head in the heat of the moment for the **** to hit the fan...

Yes but county officials in a standoff with the federal government doesn't fit that definition.
Even then, isolated incidents between the government and citizens aren't considered civil war. We are at a precarious position, but still far from armed conflict between states or large numbers of citizens.

You're probably right. Even though I've never been his biggest fan, there's zero doubt in my mind that Trump isn't going down without a fight, regardless of however it's being perceived. And he shouldn't.FireAg said:You can't blame them for being defeatists too much...it's been ingrained in us on the Right to just be nice and accept it...J.D. c/o 05 said:

It's time to stop accepting it...
We will with legal means as much as possible. If that fails, what then? Armed violence is pretty much the only thing left.FireAg said:You can't blame them for being defeatists too much...it's been ingrained in us on the Right to just be nice and accept it...J.D. c/o 05 said:

You're not wrong. But a lot about this year is unprecedented, and there's still a lot to play out IMO.DTP02 said:J.D. c/o 05 said:

Because elections are incredibly hard to overturn by legal process precisely because of the separation of powers giving the states authority over elections, and because of the difficulty in establishing proof of fraud after secret ballots have been cast and counted.

An escalation as you describe changes things of course. Why I stressed my thoughts are as things sit today. We are still peaceful and I hope it remains so.FireAg said:
No one is asking you to...
But just because YOU won't doesn't mean others share your views...
Again, I am simply saying this is how things like this start to get out of control, and why coups rarely, if ever, end peacefully...

Local LEO is failing to enforce...
The Feds have been called in to use force to enforce the court order...
If someone resists? The first domino gets pushed...
