This would be the age old lesson that people turn out to vote FOR someone, and not so much when voting against someone. That said, I do think rampant TDS has challenged that theory somewhat, but I still think it will hold by a certain degree

Reoccuring with who? Because it seems turnout is pretty much spot on for "high turnout" election for D strongholds.

Harris County, btw, just hit 1.53m voters -- a big record for Harris County (63% turnout), the highest since 1992. And the evening rush has not hit yet.

FWIW, 1.5m was the necessary "high Harris County turnout" to give Biden a reasonable shot here.

If I think my preferred candidate is "in trouble" and in danger of not getting enough votes to win, I would be more inclined to vote because "my candidate needs me".

If I think my preferred candidate has it "in the bag", then I may think that my vote isn't necessary.

I think the drumbeat of Biden-is-ahead polling has actually animated more Trump supporters to make sure they vote no matter what. I think it could possibly cause some lukewarm Biden supporters to not make voting a priority because "Biden's gonna win anyway".
