Agreed. California on the other hand has had a big hand in the space program over the years. I am no fan of CA but I can at least understand why they got a shuttle. I can also see why the Smithsonian got a shuttle because it is our national museum for air and space. TX and FL are of course no brainers.

That is why in my earlier post I said CA should get that one. First, it "flew" in CA at Edwards and second, they like things in CA that pretend to be something they really aren't.

I doubt Colorado is larger than California for space dev. Greater Los Angeles is in my opinion the aerospace hub of the country. At least for cutting edge innovation. With the exception that most big test sites are outside of California.

As the space shuttle was…an abysmal failure in its mission to be affordably/quickly reusable, I think that this future will be more appropriate anyway.

Several of these are and have been involved in "cutting edge" technology efforts from what I've heard.

Many of those companies have a presence in CO as well. Perhaps more was an overstatement but there's probably close to if not as many in CO to include a ton of startups.

JPL announces layoff of 530 employees +40 contractors. Blames lack of timely budget allocation for next fiscal year by congress.

I think it is quite safe to say that the space program has always been heavily influenced by the politicians. I heard that every congressional district was handed a part of the Apollo program. I have seen definitive proof but it highly believable. It is part of why these is so much waste in it just like DoD.

They'll spend infinity dollars on boondoggle Artemis but can't keep the lights on for actually successful JPL.
