I have more confidence in Rocket Lab than BO based on recent performance. BO has been around longer than Spacex and has only had a 2/4 success rate on orbital flight attempts if you count their static fire explosion on the craft preparing for NG4.

BO has not to date placed a payload accurately into orbit. Their achievements to date are tourist hops to a high altitude, and landing an orbital booster. Everything else is hype/hope/spin.

To be fair, NG1 placed a test platform into MEO, and NG2 sent a NASA/Rocket Lab payload to mars and put a Viasat demonstrator payload into orbit. But NG3 failed to achieve the proper orbit for its payloads and NG4 blew up in ground testing. So the point stands that despite having a couple year head start on Spacex, and a six year head start on Rocket Lab, they have not shown the capability to be an effective competitor worthy of major new contracts yet. Rocket Lab by comparison has launched 227 payloads to orbit successfuly.

I have to wonder if behind the scenes there isn't some ongoing discussions with Mexico before they overfly for that reentry. A descending arm reentry would be over mostly uninhabited Mexico desert, but an ascending arm reentry would overfly populous central Mexico.

They currently only have 48 hours on orbit before batteries begin to shut down. Going back to the ground tracks shown in the X post on the previous page they have 2 reentry windows.
At the CURRENTLY FLOWN 27* Inclination....

• A 3 orbit window between ~20-23 hours with 2 ascending & 1 at the apex of the descending path
• A 3 orbit window between ~43-27 hours with 2 ascending & 1 at the apex of the descending path

The other potential inclinations shown don't change much except for the areas that could be overflown. The timing holds either way.

I think they are being overly cautious about the overflight of Mexico before doing that, issue being it has to wind up going over some pretty large cities to return to starbase. And yes, I really look forward to seeing it happen.

- There will be multiple checks during flight, if something doesn't look good, Ship 41 will do an early de-orbit burn and return to the Indian or Pacific Ocean.
- Nominal mission splashdown in the Pacific Ocean area near Chile
- Multiple heatshield improvements will be tested, some derived from data gathered from Ship 40's side quest to Christmas Island
- Two of Ship 40's tiles will be flown on Ship 41, demonstrating Tile Re-use (!!!)
- Super Heavy Booster will again try a soft, on-target splashdown in the Gulf, as expected
- On Flight 13 (previous mission), Super Heavy boostback ended prematurely due to ice clogging on the three center Raptor 3 engines

Interesting... definitely might still be issues or concerns overflying Mexico with FAA and environmental assessments of landing zones in the Indian ocean, Pacific ocean near Hawaii and Pacific off south America

BREAKING NEWS SpaceX posts Starship Flight 14 details

Pending regulatory approval, Starship Flight 14 is to launch from Starbase, Texas, no earlier than Tuesday, September 22, with the 75-minute launch window opening at 7:15 a.m. CDT / 12:15 UTC.

This will be Starship's first orbital flight and the first one to launch operational payloads to a 275-km Low Earth Orbit. 26 Starlink V3 spacecraft will be deployed during the course of the nearly 10-hour mission, which will see Ship 41 make a splashdown in the Pacific Ocean, off the coast of Chile, 9 hours, 50 minutes, and 30 seconds after liftoff. Ship 41 will reuse two heatshield tiles recovered from Ship 40.

Following stage separation, Booster 21 will conduct a boostback burn, followed by an offshore landing off the Gulf coast of Texas. According to SpaceX, several modifications have been made to the booster to address issues encountered during Flight 13, including signs of ice clogging in the three center Raptor engines.

I wonder if they will haul any of the Raptor's off S40 when it gets back and see if they can fire them back up on the test stand. Probably no need, they should have plenty of 'used' raptors in short order (and they'd certainly need a new nozzle in any case).

My guess would be absolutely not. Not after being soaked in saltwater for a month, banged into with those giant fenders, and even used as a tow attachment.
