SpaceX has dual class shares. His ownership stake is just under 50%, but because a significant portion of his shares are super voting shares he has ~85% control over any SpaceX investor decisions. In the event of a SpaceX/Tesla merger he would likely retain >50% control of the combined company.

I passed a couple of the robotaxis driving on 71 out in Bastrop a few days ago. Both still had drivers in the front seat. They are pretty weird looking with the larger rear wheels.

Tesla has been saying unsupervised miles in their testing presentations but that seems like a stretch

everytime I see one their is a person in the driver seat. Yesterday I saw one that was following a Tesla owned model 3.

i think they get it to,autonomous operation soon but seems like Elon has a liberal definition of unsupervised

Circling back to this... sorry was out of pocket much of yesterday.

My understanding was that most of these insiders were VC firms that put up the big money alongside NASA contracts to get SpaceX ventures of the ground.

For them it's not about a belief in the future profitability of the company but their own business model. The long runway SpaceX used from startup to IPO has already kept their cash tied up far longer than they're accustomed. For them it's less about future growth and more about taking the win they've already got.

I would be curious when the major pre-IPO TSLA institutional investors sold. If they sold quickly/anywhere near the IPO price or first few months they'd have passed on a lot of cash. I genuinely don't know however.

Interestingly, Musk's share then (around 36 percent) was similar to his present SPCX position, as a percentage.

They have approaching 100 entirely unsupervised vehicles. Mostly in Austin currently (about 2/3rds). Remainder are mostly in Dallas and Houston. They're all Model Y vehicles.

They have somewhere between 1500 and 2300 built CyberCabs distributed across the country for validation purposes. They have to refit the existing model to the CyberCab before deploying them into operation. My guess has been November at the earliest for awhile.

Speculation that with Cursor acquisition finalizing today that a Tesla merger would follow fairly quickly after. Could they be using Roadster as a demo of combined engineering capability?

Either way, flying car!

I always thought they should use the cold gas thrusters to load the rear wheels for additional traction. Dropping a couple thousand pounds of force on each wheel for a 1/4 second during a launch could significantly cut 0-60 times.

I have no idea what cold gas thruster means.

It uses cold gas (not flame) to thrust.

They've also talked about using cold gas thrusters out the back for increased 0-60 speed, out the front for better braking speed and out the sides for better high speed turn handling.

I was out at the NE side of Lake Buchanan for a couple of days. That was Bortle 4. But it was so windy I was struggling with stability and lots of images just wouldn't stack. The ones in Hearne were out on OSR on a dirt road at an old cemetary. That was Bottle 4.2. But the clouds came in last night and cut it short. I'm going to try again tonight.
