Seriously these guys are just now reading sci-fi that is about two decades old for these ideas.

The real question is how to actually extract usable oxygen and other derivatives from moon rocks and moon dust.

Wish that video went longer, wonder what he had for them.

Also what kind lucky straw did those guys pull to go into the capsule!?

I love the one-off silicon liner they put around the hatch to crawl in when all they really needed was a couple of towels. That thing probably cost the government $500

Absolutely must protect the edges on a vehicle that will not fly again.
I doubt it's a true one-off. There's at least one at the Cape, and there's probably a pile of spares.

Edit to add... Several of them are the VAB and whatever facility the capital was outfitted and flight prepped.

The difference between government and private space.

I'd imagine it took a team of engineers at least a few months of work to design, release, and procure it through the standard RFQ process so 50k isn't out of the realm of possibility when you factor that all in

A few months is probably being exceptionally generous. I would imagine the design documents alone had government review cycles lasting months. I would be surprised if they were able to take it from idea to production in less than 2 years and $150k.

2 years and 150k just to issue the rfq, that doesn't include how much R&D it took to get an engineer like tx4guns to design it.

I was just referring to the direct subcontractor costs. I am sure the costs for government oversight add to that substantially.

NSF live stream is going for a potential Ship 39 static fire at Massey's.

Booster prop load started earlier but quickly went into an apparent abort and the primary beach closure moved to tomorrow.

Looking like 3:45pm or so for the static fire.

Full 60 seconds and certainly looked like all 6 engines.

I thought I heard them say on the live feed that those were the medical team and each astronaut had their own person assigned to them. Google search confirmed this. They were from the Navy dive medical team. They have been training for years to be the first contact medical providers inside the capsule. Likely they had practiced this before, with the astronauts during their training.

Awesome. Did notice that the first guy in said "got 4 green" assuming meaning that meant all 4 astronauts were good.

I briefly worked on one of the competitors for the new marine corps fighting vehicle (ARV) and it is sad how surprisingly accurate this movie is. We joked about it all the time.

Maybe one engine just shut down before the others, but it sure looked like something blew at about 55 seconds.

The RVAC's shut down before the sea level ones I think. But, it did look 'problematic' to my untrained eye.

That was my thought. I feel like they say everything in code and/or acronyms.

Although, left to roll around in that capsule as long as they did, green could've have meant something else...LOL.

Yeah the guys on the NSF feed weren't worried, thought it was a normal shutdown sequence.
