Just amazing.
I love Texas Aggie sports, but I love Texas A&M more.

No kidding. Seemed like a gamble when they put them both on the pad. Looked far enough away though.

Now let's launch the next one!

Whelp, good thing SN10 is ready for the next test flight. LOL.

Looked like the engines relit per command is the good news, but the whole last second belly flop back to vertical bit still seems a bit iffy. I'm not quite ready to jump on SN11 as a test pilot, myself, but I've never been the Gus Grissom type.

Confirmed from SpaceX replay only one raptor relit. The other flamed out so there wasn't enough thrust to get it pointed back upright.

Are these new engine designs?

How about the part the flew off during the relight/flip?

No, the issue I think/guess is getting fuel to them from a belly state. (The raptors are relatively new designs yes, but that's not the issue.) The PSI required for these methelox engines is tremendous, and as well the fact that these are full cycle engines (quite exotic) makes it trickier I think than they thought.

It's not an engine design problem so much as a "crap, we have fuel slushing around in a big empty tank" problem. They'll get it fixed.

So last time Musk said they had low pressure in the header tank, which is a dedicated separate tank only used for the landing burn.

It does honestly look like the same issue as the first time, however I thought last time was 2/3 lit, and this time it was 1/2?

Either way... glad they're unmanned...

Only supposed to light 2. Last time they starting sputtering and didn't provide enough lift.

This time 1 didn't light and 1 just wasn't enough to do the flip and stop the rocket.

They'll get this figured out.

I'm sure it didn't go that way on the computer, and I suspect they likely did stand tests of the engine for relight at this horizontal condition.
They sure have blown up a lot of these stainless steel test rockets. Im most impressed with their dynamics and controls of the rocket motion.

For rough reference from memory, the F1 turbopump generated something like 50 or 60 thousand HP just to feed fuel into the rocket motor. Merlins are a lot smaller, but I think most can appreciate that any kind of gas/break in the fluid going thru such a pump can cause...an issue when trying to carefully re-light it.

A poster up above noted how they hadn't done enough re-light tests, and maybe he/she is right. I dunno, but I bet fuel flow is something they can get fixed. It won't be their last 'big' hurdle, either. Fun to watch it go through tests/iterations.

These are Raptors, not Merlins... bigger beast. They take a LOT of flow to go.

Thanks, correct. I admit to not being a perfect poster, and sometimes not even good at being a rocket scientist critic!

Going to get a lot of good data to hopefully get the kinks worked out.
