They cannot get any data that thousands of other apps can get. Yes, they have used it to profile everyone using it but so does about 15 web page tracking companies for each major e-commerce site you go to. Any foreign government that wants to buy your profile/data can easily get it from a cut out company. Hell, most of the Facebook data was available to the highest bidder until Trump team used Cambridge analytica but remained open after team Obama used it.

If it was collecting the clipboard data then bad on Apple and google for exposing that to every app and not just the apps when they are being pasted into the app. At least now they are closing those holes. Same if apps can be hijacking your Bluetooth or wireless to seek out other connections. In both cases the Russian mafia probably has been using those backwoods for years.

If they are a risk I'm glad they are being forced to sell and I'm sure they will be forced to be audited once part of oracle. Oracle has too much to lose to leave in a back door so I hope they go white hat as for now you can find a lot of conservative voices there but if they are us based they are more likely to start censoring the data from conservatives.

Most of the people I follow are minority conservatives and seeing what they are putting out probably scares the Dems to death as there are people being red pilled through their efforts.

Tik Tok is a degenerate social media app that allows young girls to dance suggestively for likes. Who cares it it's chinese funded, it should go regardless.
"I don't like it so it should be banned" is the most succinct way to sum up modern big-government conservatism.

This is a huge government overreach. Now put on your mask and shut the **** up.

These things have long-run societal effects. Young women shouldn't be able to shake their ass on video for likes. Porn should be banned too.

Huh. Hot take. I wonder why no one has ever thought of doing that?

For those thinking Tik tok is just a private company same as google or the Facebook, there is no such thing as a private company in China. PRC is certainly using the info to disrupt and influence the western way of life.

Ok let me ask you a question then since you don't want to actually comment on tik tok. Is it ok for young girls to be able to dance suggestively on video for likes. And if it is, do you think that there are possibly long run effects on a societies morality when we permit stuff?

I don't agree with everything you said but it is true that girls under the age of 16 post suggestive videos that older mean certainly watch.

It's certainly true, and tik tok facilitates this. Social media is an insidious tool for young kids. Teenage girls get instant gratification from thousands of people for showing their ass, and young men get bombarded with stimulation. That's not even taking into account that this **** is known to be addictive to young folks.

Data harvesting of Americans by the Chinese. It's spying and it's also being done by Google, Facebook and others.

When you use a "free" service, it's really not free. You are "paying" them by giving them access to your most personnel information and they in turn use it against you to influence your decisions and actions.

This is what I dont understand. Facebook and Google does the same exact thing.

To my understanding this is not the case.

Additionally, this is the ChiComs mining the data. On it's face it seems like the president singling out a company/app but in reality TikTok is a verifiable threat to national security and I'm fairly certain there are already laws in place allowing this action.

I don't get his fascination with Tiktok, but not going after other services like Google or Facebook which are just as bad.

I also don't like the government telling me what I can and cannot use on my phone.

That said, I'll just turn on my VPN, say I'm in Canada, and call it a day and do whatever I want.

It doesn't matter what I think about young girls dancing suggestively for likes. Do you like your freedom or do you prefer the Democrats version of America where they dictate how you live your life? If you prefer freedom you can't only like it when you approve of the form it takes, that's not freedom at all. Societal norms are defined at home and in the church, not online. If you get to the point where your daughter is dancing suggestively online for likes you've already failed as a parent. That's your Civics 101 class for today.

Now let's talk logic and the real world. You'll have as much success banning porn as you do in banning drugs which is to say none. Zero. It's not going to work. It'll be at least as successful as the 18th Amendment was. Doesn't mean we won't try, see the previously mentioned 18th Amendment and the current War on Drugs.

We're banning Tik Tok because the US government is striving to protect it's citizens from a hostile foreign government that is harvesting sensitive data about US citizens. That's it. It's not about girls shaking their asses and it's not about the data being collected. It's about that data being given to a hostile foreign government.

You're placing the blame on the content providers when you should really be pointing your finger at the people who drive demand for that sort of thing. "Well of course he raped her, did you see hat she was wearing?"

And yes there are long-term effects. We don't know what they are, but there are certainly effects.

Despite news to the contrary, this isn't just a "Trump thing"
