Yes that was classic. And classic incorrect use of a tourniquet. It literally didn't even look to be bleeding.

Tourniquets are meant to stop arterial (high pressure from the heart) bleeding. Arterial bleeding can be extremely fast, killing in minutes.

Bandages, quick clot, pressure are used to stop veinous bleeding which is low pressure and can kill but much slower.

If it's squirting, use a tourniquet. If pressure, and other methods don't stop major bleeding, again tourniquet.

Also the myth that you loose the limb if you use a tourniquet has been thoroughly disproven. Limbs can be saved after hours of tourniquet use, I believe in the Middle East as long as 12 hours was recorded.

Edit: make that 16 hours

Had the brachial artery been hit he would have bled out fairly fast. And a lot more blood.

Yes, yes you do. Or at least some kind of modern rifle. The case for 30 round magazines has been made again. Make sure you buy several and keep them full and ready to go.

.223 ammo is a bit hard to find for decent prices right now, so you'll likely end up ordering and paying quite a bit. Don't pass on a quality AK either if you find one. I enjoy shooting mine far more than my ARs actually.
ARs were starting to become slightly more available, until today. Now they've almost vanished again.

I found 1 online at Buds Gun Shop. They're a very reputable company. I've purchased from them myself.

https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/719017114/ruger+556+nato+16+30rd

Palmetto State Armory has some of their brand available and a few others. Some people love them, others don't. I can't speak for how good they are or not. Just remember anything with a barrel under 16" is classified as a short barrel rifle which is under the NFA. Far more trouble than its worth if you want it quickly.

https://palmettostatearmory.com/guns/ar-rifles-pistols/ar-rifles.html

The ammo is even harder to find, and it is not cheap. Outdoor Limited has 1000 rounds of .223 available for $800. Last month it was around $500. If anyone interested, here is the link. Probably be sold out within an hour.

https://www.outdoorlimited.com/rifle-ammo/223-remington-ammo/winchester-223-rem-ammunition-usa223lky-55-grain-full-metal-jacket-case-1000-rounds/

Now, if you want a really awesome gun, and price doesn't matter, here you go.

I was floored when I checked Ammofinder at what people are asking. You gotta have it if you gotta have it though. Luckily I don't need to buy any, but I don't have enough on hand to go plinking with .223 any time soon because I can't replenish what I had. I bought a lot of .22LR and a .22 conversion for my ARs in the meantime so I can at least go to the range. Those have been flying off the shelves and out of stock lately as well. I had to check several vendors until I found one in stock.

Palmetto is great as long as you aren't a firearms snob. The only thing they've sold me that I didn't like was a trigger in a parts kit that had pretty bad creep, but that can be worked on. Everything else will go bang every time and won't kill your wallet.

SCAR heavy would be titties. Too rich for my blood though. I don't even wanna think about what 7.62x51 is selling for right now.

I have one and it is awesome. .308/7.62x51 is going for around $1 (sometimes a bit less if you can find the 500 round case) up to around $3 for the high end stuff and is still readily available.

The hardest ammo to find outside of .223/5.56 is pistol ammo of the major calibers, especially 9mm, 40S&W, .45ACP, .357 Magnum, and .38 Special.

I've noticed .22LR went from around 8 cents per round, to around 16-20 cents.

Was thinking the exact same thing. The left wants this to escalate so they can call for an end to the bloodshed and the only way to do that is to ban guns.
Agree this is an overriding reason in allowing the useful idiots deaths.

I'd also keep checking gun stores and inquire about when they get stock. Mine told me last month that they are getting whatever manufacturers have as they come off the manufacturing lines. Even stuff they don't normally have, he said it was pretty random and they have no control over what they are getting in stock, but they were still getting ARs and pistols as they are manufactured. He told me COVID disrupted some of the supply chains and also the demand has sky rocked so shelves are pretty bare. But it might be easier to find something in store from a large distributor because this particular store told me that they aren't even listing inventory online anymore, and the online retailers sell out instantly and have way more people on email lists and back orders.

Just find a store that is getting stock and keep checking back. The gun manufacturers are running on all cylinders and are refilling stock, but the stock just dissappears fast as everyone is trying to buy sporting rifles and handguns.

Just load 29 rounds per mag though so you have reliable tactical reloads. Full mags sometimes do not seat properly with the bolt in battery.

I've never had one malfunction in my AK, ever. I run a pile of Croatian magazines with a few Romanian? mixed in. Pretty sure I got most of them from Palmetto several years back. Loading is easy and positive.

Between ages 15 and 65 white males to black males the ratio is around 5:1

If the culture war goes hot, the white snugly jeans crowd currently fighting for the liberals will have to stand down as it will be impossible to avoid friendly fire in the absence of uniforms.

Quality of equipment and percent of folks with at least some training favors the Right. What favors the left is a large percent of their people not worried about protecting a job or livelihood.

As he is 17 years old, do his parents face potential ramifications for allowing their minor child out toting a gun in the vicinity of the riots?

First, don't confuse the Castle Doctrine (which Wisconsin does have) with self-defense as an affirmative defense. Doesn't have to be on or in his property to be deemed to be reasonably in fear of death or grievous bodily harm for a claim of self defense. So location is irrelevant.

This is a self-defense case.

Quote:

Self-defense is an affirmative defense that a person accused of a violent crime can bring, arguing that their use of force was justified because they were defending themselves. Wisconsin law allows deadly force in self-defense in the limited circumstances where the person defending themselves "reasonably believes that such force is necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm" to their person. Importantly, some states impose a duty to retreat from a conflict, but Wisconsin is not among them. However, Wisconsin does allow juries to consider whether a defendant could have retreated in determining whether the use of deadly force was "necessary."
LINK

From what I know right now, none of the limiting factors apply here and all three shoots appear to be self-defense.

Now as the legality of a 17 year old owning a weapon, I don't know but I'm guessing he was in legal possession. Otherwise it would have been mentioned prominently by now. Could be wrong about that though.

ETA: Just checked. Age to purchase a long gun is 18 and 21 for a hand gun but don't need a permit to purchase either in Wisconsin. So he might be in some minor in possession trouble there.
