Yes that was classic. And classic incorrect use of a tourniquet. It literally didn't even look to be bleeding.
Tourniquets are meant to stop arterial (high pressure from the heart) bleeding. Arterial bleeding can be extremely fast, killing in minutes.
Bandages, quick clot, pressure are used to stop veinous bleeding which is low pressure and can kill but much slower.
If it's squirting, use a tourniquet. If pressure, and other methods don't stop major bleeding, again tourniquet.
Also the myth that you loose the limb if you use a tourniquet has been thoroughly disproven. Limbs can be saved after hours of tourniquet use, I believe in the Middle East as long as 12 hours was recorded.
