Isn't government meddling in private business like the most commie thing you can do?

I mean I know Trump loves Russia but this takes it to a whole new level.
RUSSIA!

We should play a drinking game. Everybody drinks when a lib says RUSSIA. Twice for PUTIN!

I'm sure all of those 64,000 jobs in Ohio are VERY appreciative of our president meddling in private business.

What about all the companies that have shut down because they've been looted and burned, all the mom and pop stores and even chains have been shut down because of BLM and Antifa, not to mention all the governors in the states way overstepping their bounds and keeping bars and other places closed for basically no reason. Where is your chastising of them?

Doesn't matter when terrorist groups do it? Doesn't matter when state leadership does it? It only burns your ass when Trump shows the hypocrisy of a company that praises a terrorist group and actively works against policeman and our president?

Some of you are amazingly unbelievable. It's hard to believe this is where we are in our country today.

I have always denounced looting and believe that the Democratic leadership should be stronger in their stance against it.

Every looter deserves to have the book thrown at them. But whataboutism doesn't change the fact that Trump materially impacted the livelihoods of 64,000 employees today.

Moose, do you think BLM, Inc is Marxist? Not the sentiment of black lives matter, but the organization referenced in the Goodyear slide?

Goodyear impacted the lives of those employees. I expect elected leaders to call out this un-American crap, not support it or sit idly by while it destroys.

Trump called a boycott on a hundred year old American institution. They have a long history of maintaining manufacturing in America and not overseas.

But yes, Goodyear is the one that's being unAmerican here.

and all it took was one feel good HR power point to undo it. Why are you supporting this and focused on Trump instead? I don't get it, but TDS seems to have a greater negative impact on our society than COVID.

So did goodyear.

The best policy is to not allow any politics or activism at work. Or allow all of it.

No the company's management failed their employees by picking the side who loves marxism, faux movements, killing police, and a hatred for the greatest country on earth. You, Goodyear management, and BLM can go eat a bag...

Trump is giving them ammunition and Ohio is a must win state. How can he present a message of building American jobs and then attack an American company which employs tens of thousands of people?

I don't disagree at all.

The point is the president literally called for a boycott against them. Let the employees work with their employer to change policy. Don't ruin their 401ks and maybe their jobs.

This. Can we just make tires, play basketball, or whatever without politics? I didn't think I would have to run down a checklist of which tire company thinks I'm a racist next time I have to go to Discount Tire. It's a shame.

Wouldn't Trump speaking out on it give them all the support they need to go to their employer and discuss their grievances? You now have the most powerful person in the world on your side.

It's absolutely unbelievable that some of you are blaming Trump for the impact that the idiotic leadership brought on themselves. They were already being eviscerated because of it. The complete lack of basic principles of causality are astonishing.

You should be denouncing any company doing this to their employees. In either direction.

I dont think his instructions are really causing anyone who was not already going to boycott Goodyear to suddenly boycott.

Twitter isnt real life. The amount of conservatives on twitter is a tiny percentage. It's bluster from all sides.

Goodyear employees 64k in Ohio? Really- honest question?

Yessir, including corporate HQ in Akron.

So all of Goodyear's employees work in Ohio? Because 64,000 is their total number of employees and they seem to have many factories/presence outside of Ohio.

Wait, you appear to not know what you're talking about:

Quote:

In 2019, Goodyear ranked as the 93rd largest employer in the state with 3,300 employees, according to News 5 media partner at Ohio.com.

Gotta love people who say that employees matter, when I remember a previous administration and a current presidential candidate telling people they should learn to code. Maybe tire company employees can learn to code as well as coal miners, oil field workers and other manufacturing segments.

Akronohio.gov

Website says 3000 employed in Akron. Good enough to make it the city's 4th largest employer.

Let's also remember that a huge number of police cars on the road all have Goodyear Eagle tires on them. If police departments start switching to a different tire, that could be a couple hundred thousand vehicles no longer buying Goodyears on a regular basis.
