The CCP is keeping a tight lid on agricultural production figures, but this article provides a lot of indicators to gauge the extent of the damage in broad terms. Keep in mind the article is from the first week of August and says the damage it is reporting is probably understated--and that is before the typhoon hit and caused even more flooding thru the rest of this month.

Looking at the bright side, I have heard it reported many times that their rivers are very polluted. All this rain will give their rivers a good flushing!
Or, maybe not? I imagine a lot of s hit is getting swept into their rivers and emptying into the sea. That wouldn't be a good thing.

That's the million dollar question. They had a giant pork shortage before all this because of their pig disease. This flooding didn't make anything better.

The way the water is rising and the lack of debris, vegetation and muddy water - I would suspect that this is footage of a tsunami after an earthquake.

But, what do I know ?

I don't know if it's legit or not but it looks like snowflakes falling in front of the camera and the people look like they are dressed for winter.

This is probably (probably) Japanese tsunami footage.

Didn't quite sound Japanese to me but I'm no expert. Watched it again and you're right it probably is footage from Japan.
