According to Trump in the Chris Wallace interview, we're 2 weeks from a completely new healthcare plan that will replace Obamacare. Anyone had a look at some of the specifics of the plan?

Just curious. Doesn't seem like any other conservatives are talking about the new plan.

Weird. It's almost like the media has been completely consumed by something else....

Honestly, i would like to see what it has to say. Although, one of the few things i agree with Cuban on, any health care reform that focuses on using insurance as a tool is doomed to fail

So, you actually think there is a plan in place, ready to roll out in 2 weeks, that will entirely replace Obamacare? My instinct is that this is just another flat out, plain bald-face lie by Trump meant to deflect a difficult interview question. There is absolutely no plan, not even a rough draft. Time will tell I guess.

I'm sure Pelosi will read it in detail.

Says they were working on this back in April. IDK. It's definitely possible.

Funny how certain people are all over Trump for not having a plan...yet I don't recall them being so outraged when Pelosi and the Dems passed the ACA without reading it.

We're 4 months out from election. I had kind of lost track of that part of the timeline. I would DEFINITELY expect some form of policy rolling out right now

Which still should be argument for invalidating any of it being law. Let alone Robert's stupid dodge.

Well, that's in stark contrast to my plan...

I want you and all the 1 percenters to pay for my health care, education, child care, rubbers, etc...

Says every lib everywhere all the time!

I'm only a 1%er if that's the percentage that believes in taking care of yourself.

Only if those 1% are not media or members of the Democrats in Congress.

Jmo, he should have waited until it was ready and then dropped it on them. Why warn them? There will be plenty of time for discussion after the plan is released.

I didn't know this about Cuban but I hope he's being listened to. Insurance has done nothing but drive costs sky high. There's no telling how much can be cut by taking out their profits and the excessive administrative cost to process claims including multiple rejections before finally coughing up what you paid for.

You mean you'll let your employer-supplemented health insurance pay for it, right? If not, your "plan" will seem pretty stupid when you have cancer or a dependent that needs $100k in hospital care.

A great deal of the costs rose out of control because of said insurance and Government interference in that cost of insurance. 35-40% of todays med costs are administrative... have nothing to do with really getting health care per se .

That's a great story and all but I'm not sure how the history lesson is going to improve anyone's situation. I'm not trying to say Obamacare is the answer to the problem. It isn't. My response was to Ellis Wyatt's (typical) cynicism. It's fine to say "everyone pay for your own ****", but that's just not a realistic "plan" when it comes to health care for most Americans.

There are ways to reform the HC industry that does make it reasonable for most people, not that drastic either. The market will find ways if allowed. The last thing we want is nationalization where affordable means heavy rationing of the more costly resources and high taxes.

"The market" was left basically unfettered leading up to Obamacare, and a vast segment of the American population was uninsured as a result. Nearly 18% of Americans were uninsured leading up to Obamacare, as opposed to approximately 10% now. Again, I'm not touting Obamacare as the answer, but the fact that nearly 1 in 5 Americans was uninsured in 2008 is telling. "The market" will always find away to maximize profits. There is no guarantee that "the market" will have any motivation to answer the problem of 18% (or greater) uninsured. That's just not how capitalism works.

Totally incorrect. There has not been a free market in health care since the advent of Medicare in I believe 1965. And look at when costs went up.

Shazam.

And edited to add that using 2008 as a reference year for anything is kind of skewed,

...and no telling how many of those 18% MassAggie asserts CHOSE not to carry coverage for their own reasons.

Not it matters all that much; stealing from one person to pay for another persons' free services is immoral and unConstitutional, no matter what reliable conservative vote chief justice Roberts says.

Also, MassAggie, my benefits plan is part of my compensation. If you want an employer-sponsored plan, go work for someone who offers one. You don't get to be an entrepreneur and have me pay for your healthcare.

We are 2 weeks away from everything.

Everything is just 2 weeks away.

Everything will be different in 2 weeks.

Man, I can't wait to see where we are in 2 weeks. It will all be different in 2 weeks.

I'm tired of hearing about "2 weeks from now"

Best way to start to tackle the healthcare crisis is to stop supporting sugar, corn, wheat, and the like. Eat real food. Eat meat.

So just for a reference point, who on here knows what happens if I take Medicare money and charge an indigent patient less than what Medicare pays out of compassion?

When did the increasing cost spiral first appear in health care?

What happens if I do not collect the 20% Medicare does not pay for out of compassion for a poor person?

How differently is it handled if a Medicare makes a mistake on my reimbursement vs me or my nursing submitting a wrong code? Even if it pays me less than the correct code?

And all of this was in place before 2008 and Obamacare.

Maybe it is me, but that is no free market.

The market does find the most efficient way to get most people coverage at the best prices. That 18% chose to go uninsured is irrelevant.
