They might've been picking someone up in 20 minutes and don't want to spread their germs all across the car before that. Admittedly though, we know there's a chance you spread or contract it even if everyone around wears a mask, and I think that no amount of mask wearing will stop it when you're breathing the same air of a car for 45 minutes.

The kid inside the shack by the pumps was wearing his mask all by himself. Really made me think seriously about how bad this virus is. If it can penetrate bulletproof glass then we are all in big trouble.
You think he never has access to people? That is why the employer requires it

He's in a box all by himself, behind bulletproof glass. Do you really not see how the mask is completely 100% unnecessary in that situation?

How about the guy that walks into HEB with mask & gloves on. First thing he does is go use the hand sanitizer dispenser WITH gloves on. Made my day.

Saw a couple biking around the other day both wearing masks. I see people jogging with them and even driving around solo with them on. I automatically assume every single one of those people is BSC and completely unstable. Can't help it.

The mask wearing has become a huge virtue signaling proclamation! It makes these people feel Warm and cozy as if they are saving lives and being good well behaved boys and girls.

You're absolutely right. It is their right but I still laugh at the people driving by themselves and wearing a mask. It's just funny to me.

On a different note I kinda get the dude in the booth with a mask on. By wearing a mask he's a little less likely to touch his nose or mouth after handling someone's credit/debit card or loose change. Doesn't keep you from rubbing your eyes but hey I guess it's something. As much as I hate to use hand sanitizer I guess I would find myself using it all the time in that job. Ugh.

That mask prevents a cough or a sneeze from coming in contact

But virtue signal

Have fun ranting about a kid doing what the employer asks to make customers more comfortable

A mask will do nothing for him/her handling cash (which has been a known, dirty medium for decades). Especially speaking about COVID, it's not transmitted that way. The mask, in this situation (even moreso than normal), is idiotic.

It isn't just this, it's the microcosm of stupidity that worries most of us. Since, you know, the perceived stupidity from years ago is what we are living through now and becoming a reality. The implications of what this is going to do for the future scares me and is something to worry about.

No one is ranting about the kid.

But this is overkill. Both the CDC and who say it doesn't spread on surfaces like previously thought. Sure, it's possible, so damn unlikely the difference between getting and or not is one person sitting behind a glass handling cash without a mask on versus with a mask on.

No ifs ands or buts about it. I didn't realize we were trying to prevent every last single case. I thought we were trying to avoid overwhelming the hospitals. You know, by limiting some of the mass spreader events that really do that. This has taken on way too much of a life of it's own. From 15 days, to where we are now. Unbelievable really.

Yep, and most masks wearers know that.

I wish Trump would start wearing a mask everywhere, declare schools should close for the Fall, etc. Then watch the opposite of those actions all the sudden start happening.....

I don't think many people forget they have a mask on beyond a couple of minutes - especially a young person. I mean, I understand your need to argue for it, but still.

And yes, I think people should be "trusted" to do the right thing and also have the freedom to determine for themselves if they need to wear a mask when in a room with no one else.

No but if by chance he, or any other worker in that same position in the many places that company does business, is an asymptomatic carrier, the mask helps reduce risk of further contamination.

I really don't understand why people are so up in arms about the whole mask thing. It really isn't that big of a deal. Hell im a a conservative and a big guy and I don't have a problem wearing one of it helps to even potentially reduce my risk or the risk of others. We wear seatbelts, helmets, we require athletes to cover wounds, we require shoes and shirts at lost businesses, there are literally hundreds of requirements for sanitation and safety and if the mask has even a minor impact why not make that tiny effort?

Do I think the media is fear mongering? Yes
Is this a real risk? Yes
Are people dying or recovering but with long lasting health issues? Yes
Until we have a vaccine or at least a treatment like Tamiflu etc it doesn't hurt to proceed with caution.
I have seen both young and old die from the flu as well, but generally if you get it there aren't long term health ramifications like what is happening with an increasing number of Covid patients.

I've caught myself with my damn mask on while driving alone, then realize what a dumb ass I am. I have to wear mine at all times at work, so I guess you just forget it's on when you wear it all day. But I do laugh at myself! Not everyone is hysterically wearing them out of extreme caution, some of us are just dumb!
