I have yet to see, hear from, or read about a proud non-mask wearer who also comes across as a good, decent, logical, or empathetic person. Every single anti-mask person I've encountered, both in real life and especially on this board, comes across as a sanctimonious assh*le, without fail. I understand, say, the people with kids who don't want to mask up the entire family every time they go to the park for the next few months. I totally get that. But the people who brag about not wearing masks, refuse to wear masks, etc., have never once *also* come across as nice, caring people in any way, shape, or form. Instead, it's ALWAYS about them. And their "freedoms" or not being "sheeple" or not being a "p/ssy" or not wanting to get made fun of, or any other number of asinine excuses. It really is shocking to me, and so incredibly disheartening, that this is even a thing. Next to the number of deaths, this has been one of the saddest and weirdest things to witness during this whole ordeal.
No, you have heard from a non-mask wearer who comes across as a good, decent, logical, or empathetic person. The problem is you immediately read what is written with your bias and can't look past it. There's also the fact that there's zero actual proof that wearing one works, and all you have to rely on are small studies that are inconclusive and/or sheer faith. It's like wearing a lambskin condom and thinking you're safe against STDs.
But then there's also the fact that the people who are pro-mask love to look down on someone who isn't. You sit up on your high horse and proclaim "it's not for me, it's for you" and accuse them of being selfish because they choose not to wear something that hasn't been proven to work. Then you claim that when we bring up our freedoms, it's about us. Actually, it's far from it. Pushing back on unproven mandates from the government are protecting both my freedom
and yours. We've seen what the government can do when it has a taste of power and want to limit that as much as possible. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, find a resident of Michigan, Oregon, or Los Angeles. Ask them. There's a reason so many are saying they want to move to Texas.
This being one of the shocking things throughout this is pretty comical. To me, the most shocking things about all of this is grown adults are suddenly aware of how a virus/bacteria actually spread (as if it hasn't been this way their entire lives), and how easily they are willing to give their freedom to the government for a little bit of safety.
