Completely disagree. This thing will run its course until we have herd immunity. Get full compliance for a year, it will flare back up somewhere new once you go back to normal.

It was always about buying time to find real ways to fight this virus and save lives.

Allowing the government to forcefully strip basic liberties and rights inherent to a free society due to one "emergency" or another simply sets the precedent for a government to strip those liberties and rights anytime it chooses. It can always create an emergency or crisis, or claim some new calamity is upon us to further some political agenda and repress political opposition.

Trump says federal restrictions will stay in place until April 30 now.

So the president has extended the social distancing recommendations to April 30. I wonder if we start hearing school districts extending their time off.

Yeah, that's what I think, too, but the Houston school districts have been standing by the April 13th return date. I wonder if that changes.

This kind of action has been done many times in the history of our nation. It just hasn't been done in recent memory, mainly because of the huge impact vaccines have made on public health. This will pass, and it's not going to be nazi Germany at the end. Or at least if it is, it won't be because of government emergency action during an epidemic.

Where does this mind set start and stop?

I was hoping these kids would go back to school by the end of April. Round Rock ISD donated all of their medical supplies from their schools. That tells me that they aren't going to back to school this year.

I know. And I understand why. But these kids won't get this time back. I'm glad that mine has another year, but these seniors won't get prom, graduation etc.
