Finding an english speaker is much harder. Then throw in the fact that Chinese people speak Mandarin, Shanganese, Cantonese, etc and normally only understand their own dialect it can get frustrating quick.

I believe it. I spent a good portion of my childhood growing up in Laredo and I heard more Spanish than English, and learned it pretty well, then later I took two years of Spanish in high school. Yet when I went to Spain a long time ago (1985) we were told there were (I think, from memory) 6 major dialects and far more minor ones. And as comfortable as I had expected to be communicating there I had real trouble in some places. I'm sure China and India are like that x100.

Yep, even just the slang stuff we heard growing up that was the same as what a coworker from near Mexico City used - half of it made no sense to a Colombian we worked with.

Yeah. And all that wealth goes into the hands of the very few while the vast majority of the populace remains very poor. They have the trappings of an advanced society, so while there might be a few 5-star hotels, modern medical clinics, high-end malls, walled/guarded neighborhoods, silicon valley wannabe centers, etc. again only the elite can afford these services. The tribal/caste system combined with a bloated bureaucracy and corruption further tilts the scales. Step outside the 5-star enclaves and the country is horribly impoverished and buildings are falling down around their ears. Preventative maintenance, birth control, food-preparation hygiene, and caring about pollution seem to still be largely foreign concepts. They may not weather this well at all.
