Perhaps, but much of what has been analyzed is global, not just the US, with all branchpoints triangulating back to common source in Wuhan around early-mid December. That's lots of bad rolls that have to go the right way to build a very consistently wrong story.

Unless all the random "was traveling internationally" stories was some massive but largely secret global party in Wuhan that we weren't invited to. Infectious spread consistent with expected patterns (see the WHO simulation from last year) seems to fit the data better.

As with everything else, time will tell, but I just don't believe it right now.

If true, it makes me wonder. My wife had pneumonia at the beginning of January and tested negative for flu. I had something in January-early February with a really long dry cough that wouldn't quit. I have no clue what it was but this went on for a good 6 weeks or so before it was completely gone

Is she in Texas and has she traveled overseas recently? That's kind of shocking to me based on other first-hand reports.

You are really bad at "tell"ing, as this is not business as usual.

My guess is the Kingwood/Humble retail spaces aren't typically packed at 2PM on a Thursday. People are out buying up stuff because they're scared. I was at HEB around 1 and it was 3x worse than a normal Thursday around that time.

People are starting to stock up, or downright panic buying. Not anywhere near pre-Hurricane levels yet, but wouldn't surprise me if it gets there. Grocery stores are gonna be a nightmare this weekend.

My daughter used a teledoc today and they sent her to Urgent care.

She has a fever and cough and asthma flaring up after a trip to see us last week in San Jose, California.

They would not test her for Corona virus. She thinks she should have been. She flew out of San Jose airport where 3 TSA agents tested positive.

On a general note, it is a positive that Houston has test kits available to someone without contact with a known positive case or recent international travel. I was under the impression that test kits were being limited to those cases.
