From the front lines in Italy. A good friend that lives and works in Cinque Terra in Italy. She's lived there for 20 years. Just 10 days ago she was saying this was hysterics and had #Italyissafe on her posts, telling folks everything was fine. Now she's not worried about her business or finances, just her friends and family's safety"
Her update today "Guys - I work in tourism here in Italy. believe it or don't... this virus is lots worse than what any of us thought. Italy is not a third world country... it spread very quickly becAuse nonody believed it was actually this bad. There are not only elderly people intubated and dying. Yesterday a nurse was crying on tv after intubating a healthy 23 year old. Our doctors and nurses are so worn out that they are begging for people to stay home after what they are seeing.
I am also confident and hopeful that next year will be better but do get prepared....".

Pretty awesome how NBA players get tested right away but docs in Alabama and other places can't get their patients checked. Wonder why that is?

As much as that sucks, and the fact hat Gobert is a grade A D-Bag, I'd bet money that none of them are going to die or come close. They are all young and in tip-top physical condition, and if there's one consistent thread among this virus is that young people who don't have serious pre-existing health conditions are at an extremely low fatality rate.
Tom Hanks making a quick and full recovery would do wonders for the national moral.

It's silly, but if he makes I think we take a collective breath as a nation and calm down a lot of the hysterics.

Gobert acted like what a lot of posters in this thread have acted like.

It's no big deal, until it is.

A national hero!

When he recovers, we will all take a deep breath and know everything will be fine

Tom Hanks is 63 years old. I agree, if he makes a recovery it'll help with the perception, but his age bracket makes him susceptible to this.

I think keeping things at a manageable level will be better for the economy than being overrun. Italy is overrun and they just shut down all commercial activity that isn't grocery stores and pharmacies.

Quote:

80 miles south of Tehran, the excavation of a new section of graveyard began as early as Feb. 21, satellite images show, and then rapidly expanded as the virus spread...According to expert analysis, video testimony and official statements, the graves were dug to accommodate the rising number of virus victims in Qom.

...suggest that the number of people struck down by the virus there is significantly higher than the official figure.

...clear departure from past burial practices involving individual and family plots at the site

...image showing what appears to be a large white pile of lime, which can be used to manage decay and odor in mass graves. Iranian health officials have in recent weeks confirmed the use of lime when burying coronavirus victims.

And there's a video of the site with a guy walking through showing the gravesites.

I'd be surprised if most of the NBA players weren't infected. Really close contact while playing. Locker rooms seem like the perfect place to spread this thing.

Maybe with Tom Hanks testing positive, and the NBA shutting down, people will wake up and take things a bit more seriously. Don't need to completely freak out, but enough of the macho "it's just the flu" nonsense either.

The Democrat Media Complex (in the beginning) no doubt pushed this as a means to damage the President, but this has now gone well beyond that.

Time to buckle down, and try and push through this together.

We don't want to get to the point where our healthcare system so overrun that we are letting people die just because they're old, as is apparently happening in Lombardy, but it's debatable whether prolonging the societal disruption and economic impact by prematurely shutting things down will be better or worse in the long run.

For the crying about testing kits, the nba sure has plenty. So either they are getting special treatment or we can test better than we think

Where do Utah Jazz players fit in that spectrum? They seem to get tested ahead of sick, elderly people.

Italy is in trouble. It's not the 90% of cases that are mild that are harmful to the system, it's the other 10%

But everyone remember it's fake news, and there is no way it can happen in the USA.
