I will tell you how nerve-racking something like this is for a guy with 2 kids -- a 5 year old and an 15 month old, both in daycare.
I feel like I get some **** from them at least once a quarter -- a fever, a cold, something. And I looking through the last time i was sick via my text msgs with my boss, was early november 2019. A stomach bug. My wife and daughter actually got sick about a month ago with some sort of 36 hour cold virus. My daughter stayed with me (working from home with a 15 month old is ...an oxymoron of sorts) and somehow through all of that, I didnt get sick. So I'm due. I know that's not how illness really works, but Im a fan of aggie baseball, so a little superstitious.
The last few days, I have been washing my hands like I used to wash my dick when my girlfriend in college was coming over -- like i was going to put that **** on eBay -- every 15 minutes.
My daughter usually goes to bed at 6, but last night she woke up at about 9:15 and I had to go up and cuddle with her for more than an hour and a half to get her back down. She is cutting 2 new teeth, so part of that is a slight fever to which I gave her a few mL of motrin to help her sleep.
Also, add allergies. I cough like crazy with all the pollen in the air, and tonight I had a temperature of 99.5 for about 30 minutes. I felt like i was in the ******* movie the Andromeda Strain. I took lysol wipes to every single doorknob in our house, wiped down the kitchen counter tops, coffee table, and dinner tabe, tore the sheets off my bedding and had it all washed by the time my wife got home.
I know that's a little overkill, but I happen to work in the same building in Round Rock that a particular "tech worker" entered that tested positive in India a few days ago -- and that inflicted a little extra psychological element to it, even though it's likely he contracted it en route to various other destinations.
